how much more timing can you give it on the martini than pump gas ?
how much more power does it make with the Martini ?

run up to 11 degs timing and difference btw a 50/50 mix of 102 and 98 or str8 110 is about 36 kw. Normally runs 467 on 50/50 and managed 503 with 110. the 541 is with gas added.

Same conditions?? Cmon. The dynos were in different states. and i also believe there was a mixture of brands of dynos.. Personally, i think this wasnt a good way to do a "national dyno day" where the grand champion is ranked from all states.

Personally, The correct way would have been to use "Shootout Accredited" workshops around australia with the current Shootout software.. That way, ALL tempreture/humitity/baro presure compensaions would be applied, the Air Intake tempreture probe would have been put on the car (wasn't done in Vic), And Car's would have been strapped down properly, so that they didnt ride OFF the rear roller (which WILL increase power by 8%). Good thing the new shootout mode has a rear roller sensor which automatically deducts the power if the rear roller changes speed (ie, wheel has riden up on the front roller).

THAT WAY, Technically, You could run your car in Victoria on a rainy day, and then drive to Queensland and run your car there on a hot day, and the appropriate corrections would be applied, and you should see withing a few kilowatts difference (tipical dyno error is approx 2-6rwkw).

Thanks for your expert input. I didn't actually see your hand up offering to assist Mark with the organisation so I will assume that this is another case of expert after the fact.

The differences were well known in advance and accepted by all those who thus chose to actually get out and have a go for the fun of it. We aren't playing for sheep stations here and nor do we profess to be pros at running dyno comps.

Frankly it's attitudes like yours that make me wonder why we actually make the effort.

Russ

some are taking this way to serious, this was day to get as many members involved in a social event and have a great time and talk cars....we know everything is never going to be perfect when you run a different dyno comp from different states...but sometimes you just have to say lets do it....
Relax it was all about fun...
Your right Tibbo we all had a good time.... there are always a few who thrive on politics..

Once Again, I'd like to Thank everyone involved in putting on the Day in the respective states, and also the Guys who helped me get the XY together for the day (ADXR8 and 347Stroker, couldn't have done it without you guys!)
I'm still stoked with the number I turned (And ordered the bits to sort those secondaries today!) and was a bit suprised that I won on a state level, let alone Nationally, given some of the Big hp cars getting around the forums.... I'm sure next time round I'll be put in my place :P

Your quote in the thank you speech was good mark.... the guys who opened there doors for us on saturday did so instead of doing other stuff they may normally do, such as spend time with their families etc... Also putting 30 cars on the dyno, strapping down each one, is a monotonous process

Yes was a good effort to combine all states on the same day.
All the shops will benefit from events like these.
I'm sure everyone gained a bit from the day.
I'm sure the next one will be as good or better.

I must say I am surprised that not that many people turned up to the interstate events, even the vic one could have been busier.

I agree Rodderz, the G&D guys did an excellent job. I don't think I saw Glen without a smile on his face all day. I reckon he must be related to Lowndsey the way he smiles so much.

To be honest, who cares who the winner(s) are. It was a great day to meet everyone and see the workshops, eat, and throw ya car on the dyno. It was just a bit of fun, and i know everyone had a good time.

I heard a whisper that all power figures next time will be divided by the number of cams the car was running.

So if I rolled up with a 2 stroke Saab i'd win because it would be infinitly powerfull? (no cam!)

Great minds!
The fact that I have about 170hp worth of 2 stroke bikes sitting in my shed was the inspiration :P

Thanks to the AFF crew, APC, and all the guys who turned up. I was pleased to get the runners up trophy with 149.9 rwkwand would have pinched the winners if I didn't have an auto, who knows without the 20% loss through the auto trans I could have been punching out around 180rwkw and could have taken the national class 2 from XRChick !!! But well done XRChick, deserved winner.
Another person I'd like to thank is Barry Batten for tuning my car (we'll get it on the dyno again and get a few more neddies out of her yet eh Barry ?)
Again good on ya all you winners and competitors, a great day was had and it was good to meet some of the forum members.

Hopefully when you guys see how many people have enjoyed this event the reasons for your effort will be reaffirmed!!

I've said it before and i'll say it again - a huge pat on the back to the organisers of the event. Im not sure how many participants there were in total, but that number of cars across a handful of states is no small effort.
