Well after all the exercise and eating right I did I'd had no results. But I went home to QLD, sat on the lounge and ate crap for a week and I lost 5kg. Oh well, I'll take it lol

good thread guys.
coinsidentaly (Spellcheck!) my General Manager told me yesterday that I was a fat b@stard, i'm almost 6ft, and on weigh in this morning I was 90.6kgs. my problem is i'm really lean on legs and arms, just my GUT is getting out of control. so it's by by beer for a month now, and try and get back to my nominal weight of 83kgs as quick as possible. my other Manager is 101kgs and I actually look FATTER in my uniform than he does and he's shorter!!! so it's a race to trim up, and get fit! this post has made me see the light!!! I AM A FAT B@STARD!! there you go, I said it. : TBC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

How's everyone going?
Since the winter weather has turned up, I think I have gained 3-4kgs. I eat so much comfort food and don't want to exercise at all

Right I've decided to give up BEER for a month. I've got the shakes about it already :P
There'll be a (planned) relapse for one night when I go to Vic with the SA Bogan Crew, but between now & then I'm not drinking at all... Until the end of July.

Well, I noticed this thread a month or so ago and decided to steer clear. I have been contemplating weight loss for the last 4 years and whilst I see the need, I really like food. But, last night, the missus and I decided we both need to lose some weight. She doesn't need to lose as much as I, but we are gonna have a competition. She is gonna lose 10kg and I am gonna lose 20 and we are gonna have a race to see who gets there first. First step will be to buy some scales. I let you guys know how we are going. Don't know exactly what I weigh, but I'll be getting on the scales in the next couple of days to find out. Perhaps we should start measuring after Orgin tomorrow night? hmmmm....

Well i've hit it.. i've lost about 6 kilos in about a month or 6 weeks. Nice steady loss.
I eat my regular breakfast (two weetbix + milk), regular lunch (sandwich and drink, or a burger, or something similar) and then a calorie controlled dinner in the form of Lean Cuisine. In the start it wasn't enough. So I threw in 1/2 a cup of microwaved vege's and that was great, but now I don't need it (assuming the 400gram meals). I have a "mini" mango weis bar for dessert. I find it works for me.

Welcome to Diva Chick, yay another chickie on the forums! :sm_headba
Big Waity, I know what you mean about the weetbix thing. I've had to consciously cut down my portion sizes, but instead of three big fatty meals a day plus chocolate, I now am trying to eat something small every two hours. This apparently is the way to weight loss heaven. Now at first I thought this would be easy, but in reality it's rather difficult! Two hourly feeds come along quite quickly. I feel I've just finished my banana when it's time for tomatoes on spelt sourdough toast (no butter of course). There is so much information out there on weight loss, it is really difficult to decide what works for you personally. I have tried everything. Weight Watchers worked for me a few years ago and I lost 16kg (and still had 15kg to go). But it took me 9 months, whereas everyone else in the group took a third of the time. I worked so hard, denying myself everything possible, and I felt it was unfair that they lost so much so quickly on the same diet I was on. So after a particularly stressful time I went off WW and back onto the all you can eat pizza diet. Then I read Dr Phil's book, and I tell you that is inspiration served with an emotional rollercoaster. It shows WHY you eat what you eat, and how your self talk really affects you and dooms you before you start. My husband has been on the Blood Type Diet with enormous success. It is stunning how much weight he has lost. But you see, we were both big people to begin with so he's still big. But he's gone from a size 6XL to an XL since last year by diet changes (granted, they are MAJOR diet changes!!!) and a bit of exercise. I am also a vegetarian and whenever I pick up the magazine New Vegetarian I get the beam of Weight Loss Religion, shining down on my head. All the nasties in fish, meat and processed foods just make me wanna puke when I read about it. So, all I can suggest is read, read, read. Men's Health is a brilliant magazine with loads of information and the latest health tips (as well as some damn hot guys - it's called Bindiporn!). The last hint I can give you, that works really well for me, is to EAT SLOWLY. Most overweight people just gulp down the food without really tasting it. I have found that the simple task of loading the fork with a small amount, putting it in my mouth, then putting the knife and fork down, works well. I chew slowly, enjoying the flavours in my mouth. When I have swallowed that bit of food only then do I pick up the knife and fork again. Because it takes 20 minutes for your stomach to register that it's full, I find that I don't eat as much because I feel full pretty quickly. Good luck, keep us informed!

hey, dark horse, better be careful losing that much that quickly. It is really good to lose weight, but, recommended healthy weight loss is 1% per week. Thus, 1 kg a week is probably plenty for most people. I don't wanna sound negative or anything, as I said, weight loss is a good thing when done properly, I just don't want anyone causing themselves dramas as a result of dieting.
waity.

Ahh, fairy nuff. Time to bulk up then. lol While I don't actually know what the Kokoda trail is, or really what it is about, I would imagine there was some effort involved. Please ignore my ignorance. I am stupid and tired.

To help you all... i lost 12kg in 3 months. I had NO junk food what so ever, heaps of vegies, but still had other home cooked meals, albeit in small dosages. Also, heaps of fruit. Fill in the vitamins, and drank heaps of water (now a water freak). I managed to get a high Metabolism (sp?)... BUT i did 25km on the bike every week day! Pick a nice track, and do the same thing (i used a bay)... and then start timing yourself and trying to beat it!
Hope that helps...

Well after a few months now I have decided to get serious about this. I have pulled out my polar heart rate monitor and recorded a resting heart rate of 49beats per minute

Well, I have just started having a meal replacement shake. It doesn't taste too bad. I have decided on a new menu/ration/diet for myself. I will have 5 weetbix with mil but no sugar for breaky, cutting myself down to 3 over time. I will try and have something small like a mueslibar for morning tea. Then, a meal replacement shake for lunch, so I am getting all my vitamins and minerals and stuff without fat or excess sugar. Then, for tea, just eat a nice healthy meat and 3 veg type of deal. Maybe treat myself Friday lunches and have a pie or something fatty like that. Gonna see how it goes. Pretty keen to lose a few Kg. (need to get those quarter mile times down, lol)

No worries champ. Will do. You should change your name though. Now I wanna go eat some donuts. That, or just go do some donuts, neither of which are very healthy. ;)
