Also got a quote from Youi. Asked the question about what they would do if the car was written off after production ceased under their "new for old" replacement policy. Was advised that they would "work with me to find you an equivalent car". Be interesting to see what they thought would be equivalent compared to what I would think! Anyway, they were even more expensive than Shannon's so they didn't even get a look in.

Looks like I'll be back to Budget Direct, even though anyone under the age of 40 will not be covered.
Do they offer choice of repairer??? As this would have a big affect on price i would think. Do their price include excess free window repair or replacement once a year? Also check the wording of the PDS regarding the new for old replacement vehicle, as i am aware of several insurance companys have the cash settlement cause in them for when this event occurs.

For anyone who's interested:
For the first time since my ill-fated visit in November, I paid a visit to Harrigan Ford at Yallah this morning.
They have an Auto FGX XR8 in Victory Gold waiting to go to a good home.
According to the salesman, it was ordered but when it arrived, the customer decided he now wanted black.
As such, it's up for sale.

Haha, yeah. I've been to Harrigans too (I bought my FG2 from them) and I have been to see the car you're talking about. My son and I pulled up to the showroom door in my mint FG2, walked in and were in, around, underneath and under the bonnet of the thing. Nobody came to talk to us !
Maybe they guessed the back story. I went to order a FGX XR8 from them back in December, and they wanted $66k for one. I politely declined and put the feelers out to other dealers, and saved myself $9000. I think they've come to their senses since on prices, but I couldn't believe it. Good luck !

did you manage to get any shots of the interior - sorry, just kidding (acid flashback)

VERY nice machine, CQB, and also leading the Aust Touring Car Championship, as you'd know (touch wood). A client of my work has a Silouette one, and in the flesh it's a jaw-dropping colour choice for that shape. Congrats.

I second this- around Newcastle and driving to Sydney CBD every so often.

And, another thing, the police driving FGX XR6s always give my FGX XR8 an ogle when I drive- I was driving to Sydney around the Swansea bends and a police car the other way, and the guy almost ran into the centre cheese grater wires staring at my machine.

Lucky I was dribbling along for once looking for a break in the bushes to have a pitstop.

Seems like the police, especially the highway guys, are interested in the FGX XR8s, lets just hope they treat us as fellow FGX enthusiasts and give us some leeway.....

Finally have the car home after being barged around Cape York in a container. Fortunately no damage. Windows tinted, opticoated and KPM oil breathers fitted. Very happy with the vehicle and performance. CP.

What I do:

1) Get the Dropbox App on the Appstore.
2) Sign in or get an account for Dropbox.
3) Using the Dropbox App, upload pictures from your iPhone
4) On the computer, download your pictures off the Dropbox.com website.
5) Get a program like Irfanview to resize the downloaded pictures. The originals are massive.
6) Upload the pictures to imgur.com and it will give you hyperlinks for forum pic images
7) Then use the hyperlinks here.

Irfanview can save to a variety of formats and is basically a free and simple image editor and manager.
Pictures beyond the size of 1200x1200 get ridiculous here but there are nice XR8s posted here.

Pretty sure SYNC2 is only on the FGX models. The Falcon on Ford Australia's own electronic media is brushed aside for what they consider more worthwhile e.g. Mustang or Focus ST.

A little difference matters to me.
I still use a sunshade regardless of exterior colour as long as it's sunny.

Dealer knew I was interested and contacted me out of the blue this week saying they're now taking deposits as Ford had confirmed with them that an XR6T Sprint was coming next year with F6 running gear and probably the F6 motor, but certainly more grunt than standard XR6T. Was assured that it's not just a sticker pack, but have the option to tear up contract and get deposit back if price or specs not to my liking.

Dealer said they're not taking deposits on XR8 Sprints, but hearing from elsewhere that there will be an XR8 worth waiting for before they're finished.

I've been checking on here and google every day waiting for official word from Ford, one would expect it will be coming soon now.

Official Specs would be great

I've had deposit with Dealer since November 2014, as soon as I heard the rumour I put something down. So I've also got the first allocation from that dealer.

Now Ford just need to make the car

As for XR8 I always waited to make it my build so didn't bother waiting for any limited editions. Even if there is, I highly doubt running gear or engine to be changed in any way but tune, bigger brakes, and some type of cosmetic pack yes maybe but it's not like they are going to offer a factory intercooler (but who knows for sure)

Still trying to rack up some kms on the 8 then I can have some fun, so far only Brakes and suspension upgraded to 6/4 Brembos and Shockwork Coilovers.

After the last posting (about more cop-car FG Xs than civvies), predictably started seeing plenty this week - saw a one tonner for the first time, then a ute - which both looked the goods in Winter White, then an XR6T this morning......

They're taking over... :-)

The LE XR8 would likely be out of my price range anyway, picking up a XR8 now is very tempting to the point I've started having a look around but a XR6T Sprint would be a great car to have being the final performance version of the I6.

Decisions.. Decisions..
