If Chrysler were to commit to V8 super car racing using 300C panels on the COTF chassis, running the required Ford 9" rear end and an approved aero package, what engine would they be allowed to use? Ford and Holden both use a 5.0 l pushrod V8, does Chrysler have such an engine in it's bag of tricks?

They would probably just make it the same as the other 2, the only difference would be the sheet metal

Actually the COtF will no longer use 9" diffs as they will be running transaxle instead. As for the engine, Mark Skaife said they can use any engine that can meet power and torque requirements, so the Chrysler engine will not have to be 5.0L.

You don't see ford and Holden making race specials for the Production champion ship do you? Or nations cup/ Remember the monaro that was in that, with a 427 and a drive line that had nothing to do with a CV8?

Bogans watch bathurst and see a Holden win in the V8 supercars, a category that doesn't require 200 units of 150K falcon/commodore to be built for homologation, HSV struggled to sell 137 W427's, they support isn't there.

In the 60's ford and holden were selling more then triple cars a year what they are now...

there is no logic in making the V8 supercars into a series that already exist in Australia...

you cant educate the uneducated i guess...

Oh dear
I dont remember a car having
adjustable sway bars,
or a computer to tell the team what springs it needs,
how to ballance the 4 corners of the car,,
shock dynos at the track
shock sensors that sends info to the pits from the car,
Telemetry to tell the driver to run full rich or lean.
The team telling the driver you have a full tank, so set the front bar @ 3 & the rear bar @ 5,
Shall I go on. I dont see any of this helping Joe Bloggs buying a new car!

There's certainly a lot of Haters of V8SC.

Suprising, given how it is so much more popular now than it ever was in past history, whether as V8 Supercars, or the ATCC, or ANY of it's previous incarnations.

The only argument I ever hear is how the cars are not like what's on the track. I wonder if the Nascar supporters are like that? Sounds like a lot of people just trying to drive the category back into bankruptcy, which is coincidentally what the 5.0 Litre category and thus V8 Supercars SAVED us from in the first place.

The utes are close to production in build. Follow those. The Touring Car Masters are also close to production - follow those too. There's even a real production car category in Australia - plenty of opportunity to follow those. Good luck affording one of those cars though.

But I think you'll find not one of those Categories is anywhere near as popular as V8 Supercars. Pity.

I think it will be good to see some new competition in what is now being a event dominated by Holdens winning. Other than the couple of good Ford drivers.

Official now isn't it? GRM running 300c's next year.

A much welcome breath of fresh air.

I just hope the grid size is expanded.

I do not care less about supercars, its like watching paint dry these days!Bathurst was traditionally a battle of the car manufacturers, the cars we all love.Of cause the drivers did their bit,but if you have the best car ,it makes it easier on the day.all these supercars are the same, boring!I am like a lot of people and only watch one race a year, but hate to see how it has gone.

Oh look...

Australian Manufacturers Championship/Australian Production Car Championship

Isn't that what you want the V8 supercars to change to? A catagory alread in place in Australia?

bathurst 12hr

More challanging then 500 miles and open to Group E production cars...ie..Australian Production Car Championship.

Doesn't even form part of the championship, just like the "old" bathurst!

Bzzt. Read the news releases again. The only thing confirmed is that GRM are interested in Chrysler and are talking to them. That's quite a long way from GRM being confirmed as running Chrysler just yet.

You will not find any Falcons or Commodores near the front of the field in that series. They don't seem to compete with the EVO !.

Yep. No more model shells was the last straw for me. It's not even auto racing anymore. Only the driver and team compete these days. Car Manu's don't.

I wan't to see the Australian Production Car Series televised.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austral...r_Championship

2006 Winner. A BF Falcon XR6 Turbo.

Falcon 4 to Lancer 2.

(I do concede the fact Lancer has won the last two.)

i will give you an iron clad guarantee - if you go to bathurst to watch anything that resembles v8 supercars or car of the future, you will make a mess in the most embarrasing place on your body

while at the track, no one cares - or at least should care about the exact specifications of the cars. a v8 powered machine, that dances around that thin piece of black stuff that is called bathurst . . . . . there ain't many things better

it is just the most awesome place in the world. indy, daytona, le mans, spa may all be awesome in their own way, but walk one lap around bathurst, and then watch from as many points as possible and the specification of those cars will mean nothing

you "will" enjoy it
