yeah i have to jump into this one........i run a 5 litre eb on lpg and it was aroun d 50c a litre when i bought it a year ago, and since labor have won the election it has jumped up to 25 cents more in a matter of two weeks, i am absolutley furious with the price of lpg, it shouldnt be this expensive, might aswell sell the bloody thing and buy a korean 1.1 litre deisel peice of crap or something, its getting to expensive to run for a daily.

I think a Golf Diesel 2.0 TDI DSG might be the way to go.

Hardly a dinosaur....

Yet when I did the same drive as she does in a late Mazda 323 it was costing me more money.... hence me putting LPG on my own "dinosaur" and using that instead.. with the added bonus of cleaner emissions, and much nicer freeway cruising.

My EL on LPG is pretty much comparable in fuel cost to my 2.0L Turbo Diesel 307. The Falcon is about 8c/km and the Peugeot is about 7c/km.
The Falcon used to be cheaper before this round of LPG price hikes.

Thats nearly a 50% increase in just a few months.
Petrol in percentage terms has risen only about 20% in the same period.
I wonder what the ACCC is doing ????

i actually had plans on how to convert an engine to run on water. migh seriously get my hands on some plans again . i work with 70 tradesmen . between us we probably cover every industry . i wonder if the govt would mind having 70 vehicles on the road running on water?? you'd think they would be happy about that, and pay us incentives for reducing emmissions.

[QUOTE=Shaker888]Back in the day of the Gulf war & the petrol rationing, LPG was exempted from restrictions

There was a mad rush to have LPG at the time because it was unclear how long the rationing would last. I can remember seeing charades and other 3cyl/small 4cyl cars with LPG.

LPG was also exempt from fuel tax/levy at the time.
This was quickly rectified by the sitting (Labor) government. Thank you very much Bob (or was it Paul)

I can remember filling up for 4.9c/l during a price war in Adelaide in the early nineties. $5.00 for 100L in my first Bronco.

Thank god those days are in the past :

i rememebr the first gulf war, the prices of petrol skyrocketed to 80 cents a litre for super petrol(was a really high price at the time, now it seems so cheap). i had a 6cyl holden hq and i remember spending up to 80 dollars a week and i was only getting paid a 170 week back then as an apprentice.
i can never rememeber lpg being under 10 cents a litre, the cheapest i ever saw it was 19.9 cents in 1991, when i sold my hq and bought a gxl fairmont 302 on dual fuel.
In regard to current prices, here in A/Springs LPG has traditionally been so expensive that the taxis never used it

Nah, water restrictions. He'll only be able to fill his car up once a week, and then only between 5pm and 8pm :P
