I cant believe this TomXY character.

He asks us for his opinion; he gets it, then whinges that we don't agree with something he has obviously already decided on, which makes the poll he posted invalid.

I must say though, if I had a genuine 6 cylinder GS model then I would consider turbo just for the sake of having a matching numbers car.

Late model T v V8 is hard call.

Your going to have to look at the cost and a few other things also.

to drop a '51 in you could drive away for like 4k + depending what you do. Get a nice exhaust set up and a gilmer drive if you want some **** and you will have a mad cruiser. Potential of future forced induction is optional.

A i6T will be closer to 10K+ easy. Let alone a 500hp engine
But would go pretty hard, be a bit different

One of the main reasons I went for a V8 is because I was not planning to keep my car for a very long time. If i had the money and time and was looking to keep it then i would reconsider something like a BA/F turbo motor.

Im guessing your pretty young, and money/expertise is not in abundance, and I would say for your case a V8 woudl proberly be the better option. Its proven and all the parts are readily available, and rego is easy. Also you just cant beat the sound of a 8

Agreed with the above aswell, there is only so much you need for a daily.

There's more to a car than just hp. The 4L turbo would produce the 500hp at a lower rpm (depending on cam and how much boost) therefore more torque. Not to mention less weight.

No I'm not a VL lover I'm just not single minded and can respect a car for what it is not hate it because people bag the people who drive it.

Performance is performance

Sound and looks are just opinions.

I'm not saying the 351 clevo is **** i'm just sick of people thinking somthing is crap because it's different.

im asking for opinions and ideas, i havent decided on anything, i just like arguing with people who think they know everything...

I've already been swayed towards V8 a little bit, so why dont you say something useful?

Go the 351 mate, a slightly worked 351 will have more than enough power than you will ever need for a street car. It will sound great and you will get far more praises.

I think the poll speaks for itself indeed.

The 351 chalked up more votes than the turbo 6 and "other" options in the poll.

Just a personal opinion, a XY weighs 3003 lbs (1365 kilograms) so it isn't the heaviest car, but it could do with the low down torque 5.8 litres can produce, with the right gearing you would drive past the surge of a turbo 6 and be infront when it comes on boost.

500hp is one thing but whether it is usable is another.

if you want something different go for the ba xr6turbo motor.
nothing beats the sound and feel of a tuff clevo powered XY.

351 belongs in an XY. In the end it is your car so do what you like with it. If you turbo it though be prepaired to live with comments like in this thread. That's not having a go at you, it is just friendly advice.

Yep there's a guy on this forum making 1320nm from 15psi out of his turbo Xflow.

Can't remember his name it was an XF though

It doesn't matter if the turbo 6 has 1000hp, doesn't matter if the turbo beats you off the line and thru the gears...it just doesn't sound natural with all the whizzing and hissing noise's and the fancy shmancy blow off valve, it's just not right coming from a classic XY or any other car for that matter...

It's all about the soul you see, when you hear an eight go past you on the street, the last thing you're thinking about is how much power is has or how fast it goes...it's that angry "get out of my way, I mean business!!" sound that counts for everything my friend. ;)

It's the V8 shreik, the roar, the crackle, the rumble, the emotion...this is what makes the car my friend, once you have this, you know you've got it made...do you see my point??

Why do you think we have V8 Supercars?...because V8's sell, V8's have the noise, they have it all and then some.
