First of all maximum 2 years is a joke. If someone did that to a human they would get life.

Secondly, if this is the worst case ever to be put in front of a court, if they dont give maximum penalty then what would get a maximum penalty? If torturing a small dog then killing it isnt bad enough to get the maximum penalty then what is?

Just squash the pr%$ks!!! there is no rehabilitation for such a disgusting act of cruelty, im pretty sure if they could do this horrendous crime to a defenceless animal, they would have no trouble doing it to a human...

5,005 signatures so far, at the same time yesterday it was 3,301....I've never put my name to a cause, but I've made a real effort to circulate this story and generate signatures.

There will be plenty of folks waiting for these freaks to come out of jail (if they even make it out).

Softy softy does nothing. Too many court convictions are quashed or shortened when people cry about insanity or mentally challenged.

The world is over-populated enough as it is, let's clean the gene pool and get rid of these vermin who we're paying for to keep in jail anyway.

Just last week I saw a few teenagers putting tyres and blocks of wood on the road at night & laughing about it when cars had to hit the anchors. Talk about a screwed generation.

even an animal would not do this to its own kind or other.
I am more than happy to sharpen my knives and gut these gutless tools .

Burn them alive a throw more gas on them if they scream.

RIP little pup.

I wonder if it comes down to not allowing boys to let off steam as youngsters.

Boys in school are not allowed 'rough play'..wrestling, immatating super hero's is not allowed.. eg: star wars etc etc...

Boys need a release, and if it comes too late, we might be in for more acts of cruelty :(

My wife who is nearly 40 was in tears reading about all this !, and she seen some bad stuff in her time too, aswell as me, and I gotta admit I was close to tearing too !.
This just makes me totaly sick to the gut. I have owned dogs all my life and judge them on the following...

1/ Never has ANY of my dogs (or any animal for that fact that i've owned) has ever judged me for who I am, unlike humans do !

2/ Never do my animals complain, all they ever want is just some attention and to be loved.

My god, I could go on and on, no offence to the human race !... but to me 90+% of animals are totaly harmeless and defenceless against us.
So in my eyes, for someone to to do this to harmless animal such as a pup, that/those persons is a absolute discrace to the human race.

Im gutted !, this is shocking :(. I have no kids, my animals have alyways been like my kids to me and I would ............ I'll end it there !!!!........GGGGGGGGGrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Shocking. I am also shocked to read the maximum penalty is only 2 years, add the fact the maximum penalty handed down to date is only 4 months.

Well I've just got done emailing ACA and TT...asking if the story can be covered to bring it in to the public eye in the hopes that these scum will get more than just a wrap over the knuckles and the Animal Cruelty Law Act as it stands now needs to be taken to the Supreme Court in order for the length of sentencing to change.

If you are so inclined it might help if others were to email and suggest the same.

would it be worth someone sending an email to Sunrise on 7 about this? its a very widely watched program, these sorts of things need more coverage so people know its not ok, and the more public pressure the better, just so it doesnt get swept under the carpet like so many other things we never hear about

This happened in my home town, i went to school with one of the puppies owners.
When something like this happens in such a small community it really stirs people up.
The sick bastards will not be returning to town, locals would kill em

Just received a stock standard cut and paste response:

RE: Peanut‏

Thank you for your email regarding the animal cruelty case currently before this court. I appreciate and sympathise with your concerns, which are shared by many others in our community. In relation to the eventual outcome of this case, the decision of a magistrate is one for the magistrate alone. The integrity of our legal system is based on the constitutional foundation that the courts will interpret the law without government interference. This is a responsibility our magistrates take very seriously. Thank you again for sharing your thoughts on this matter.

Please make an example of these sick individuals that hacked the Jack Russell apart. Maximum two years in prison is bull$***, and of course they're mentaly ill, but thats MORE reason to lock them up! It could be your son or daughter next. Put them away for a LONG time, then maybe we will see less kangaroo bashings, flamingo bashings, crocodile torture, etc etc. These $*** needs to stop

Did you expect any less? Good on you by the way. What they say and what they do are two totally different things. Generally people say more than what they do. I hope in this case the court does more than what they say.

Give the depraved bastards the maximum penalty and let the gutless heroes get sorted out in prison. We can only hope that karma plays out and they will be at the mercy of some equally sadistic inmate.

Now there's a concept that's guaranteed to work.... But by drug users you're not referring to alcohol or tobacco are you, as they don't cause any health, economic, social and other problems do they?? If so I'm in trouble as I like a beer or a glass of red, but technically alcohol is a drug so..... But if by "bad drugs" which are illegal, well of course it will work. All drug users are depraved bastards who would commit such disgusting acts, and all non-drug users are happy, loving, law abiding christians. You can't be serious. There's plenty of messed up SOB's that don't use drugs, plenty that do, and plenty of others that don't do drugs but commit equally brutal crimes under the influence of "socially-acceptable" drugs such as alcohol and prescription medicines.

let me guess - they had personal issues with the family?

still not a reason to do this mate

actually, there is no reason to do this to an innocent animal.....

Any chance of you PMing me what the go is?

If you ask me, no excuse in the world, or personal issue, or ANYTHING, could possibly suffice for an act like this.

That part about the Puppy trying to escape on it's bloodied stumps got to me.

Again, I'm part of the meat-eating hunting feral animals community, but killing a family pet that most likely belonged to little kids is the most horrifying thing a person can do.

I couldn't imagine having a pet mutilated like that, I think the owners should cut off the guys limbs and make them go around with stumps for the rest of their lives.
