From what I understand your data from GT3 can be used in GT4. A few mates in the US have been playing for almost a week now and told me a bit about it. For some reason though they haven't been replying to my emails much? I can only wonder why that is! :hihi:

If you have completed driving tests in GT3 your savegames will excuse you from completeing licence test A and B, and also I think it gives you 100,000 or 1,000,000.

A. Who in Australia already has a copy?
B. How did you get it before thursday?

I just got a call from EB to remind me about my pre-order, they said they will price match too.
So where has everyone been getting theirs cheaper??

He warned me that it will use 75% of the memory card.

Same here, although in some ways GT2 was a bit of a let down, mainly because they rushed it out, and so it still had a few bugs (like one which lets you drive wayyy off one of the tracks, the "can't get 100% complete" bug and the graphics didn't look as polished IMO as the first one), also I wish there was less emphasis on the Japanese cars - do we really need half a dozen different Skyline models all making around the same amount of power and only having slight cosmetic differences?

Love GT3, although I can't say there aren't things in it I'd change if I could.

What I'd love to see would be fuel consumption and therefore fuel stops in the pits making the strategy have more depth to it.

Sweet, I hate having to do those go-to-whoa tests in little slow shitbox cars when I could be racing. If it also gives you more money to start off with, that would be cool as well, but as long as I don't have to do ALL the license tests again, I'll be happy.

Sh!t, 75% of an 8M memory card, damn, it is 6M, that is HUGE! :( Oh well, GT4 + new memory card it is then

Who else remembers the days when games were available on cassette tape, and 64K of RAM was considered HUGE?

A better deal? Um.... "free" from "5 finger discount store".

Damn, gunna need to buy a new mem card too.

I agree with you on GT2. The graphics were worse than GT1, BUT it had the drag cars, the HKS silvia and the HKS skylines. Heh heh. And a couple of favourites.

GT3, I'd also like to see fuel consumption, VISIBLE PIT CREWS FFS, and proper support for the force feedback steering wheel. It was a nightmare to use in GT3.

I've butchered the settings for the FTO LM edition, so it's the ultimate drift car, if anyones interested. I can post the suspension settings, the gear ratios and mods required to make a bucket of fun out of this great car.

Hmm, anyone in WA want to come over and play?

I've got GT4 prologue, but it's just a tease really.

They way you guys are talking up this game i might have to look at picking up a ps2 off ebay. I have always been into xbox and everyone knows its potential.

Is gt4 that good that it is worth picking up a ps2 just for that game??

Dude, Gran Turismo is and always will be the DEFINITIVE tarmac racing game. I (and millions of others) highly recommend it. The learning curve can be quite steep if you're new to the series, but well worth it once you get the "feel" for the game. I bought a PS2 JUST so I could play GT3-A spec when it came out. Hell, I bought the game 2 months before I bought a PS2.

How much are memory cards? I scored one free with my PS2 so I wouldn't know how much they are? Hope its not too much as my pay is already already gone for this week and I haven't even filled the car with petrol :(

About the memory card issue... I saw the GT4 box on sunday at Games Wizards (just the box; the bloke swore they didn't have the game backstage) and it said minimum memory card space as 1,4xx KB or around 1.5 megs. I guess you may need 6 megs if u wanna save pics u take within the game, but u can use a usb card for that (but u can't use it for saving gameplay). And finally, for those who wanna know, a memory card is around 50 bucks or you can buy a pack of 2 for $80.

A question for anyone who knows: i got the DVD remote for the PS2 and i installed the software that came with it and it takes around 2 megs on the memory card... but i seem to be able to use use it without the memory card.... do i really need the software??? cheers

i believe only some models need it... after some time they updated the software inside the machine itself

when i went in to work (toysrus) on the weekend i saw some ps2 boxes with a gt4 theme, so im assuming there will be some form of ps2+gt4 package coming out perhaps. we usually offer pretty good deals on console packages plus they all come with 5x $10 vouchers to use on ps2/xbox/gc games. the electronic area has been turned into somewhat of a gt4 propaganda centre as of late, lol, there are signs sitting over the gates, hanging from the roof, display boxes on the shelves, more signs out the front of the store, and the holy room that is 'the booth' (the storeroom where every game, console, dvd and video we have is kept) is full of gt4 and nintendo ds stuff.

sony ones are $48 at work, im not sure about generic brands though. we used to have some but after they sold out we never received any more

Quote:

it may turn out that a lot of the stores will end up having it for this price. sometimes our games come out at full price (usually like ($97 or $89) but sometimes there is a bit of a price war with eb and target etc, and everyone ends up with the same price. $78 sounds like the lowest you will find it in a LONG time though, it'll probably go up after a few weeks

The dvd remote will still work, the extra features on tne disc were for the 3 speed fast forward (search) etc.
I needed the mem card space and havent had it on there for years.
