I'm usually a fan of out there American styling and odd things, but even for me, that grille looks like they stole some farmers old chicken wire fence and stuck it in there with a UHU glue stick and are like "YEP! That'll do the trick!".

EDIT: Didn't realise it was the artists impression.

The latest Top Gear Australia mag (on the shelves Monday) reports this will have 430kw/740nm.

Best to keep sharp objects away from anyone who bought a W427 for megabucks, believing their 375kw/640nm would never be matched in a Aussie production car...

Waiting for the bragging to start from my Holden loving mate with his 3.0L VE lol!

the market for these cars is miniscule at best. it is essentially a modified commodore. no euro buyer in the market for a AMG or BMW M, or porsche etc will ever look at a commodore.
it isn't that they don't do never enough, its that nobody but us ford guys really know about it, I work in Automotive and everyone knows before hand when a new fast holden is coming out and some people don't even know that we have a supercharged GT yet or ecoboost falcons either.

even when holden or HSV do something miniscule people are talking about it

I do think its funny tho do HSV think they have our measure with the LSA??
it's not like the coyote can't match up or that the 5.8L GT500 motor won't fit in the FG and the LSA is coming to the end of it's life, it has been around for a few years now

i guess it depends in what circles you hang out. i hang out with a lot of non car enthusiasts and i would say their knowledge on either products, ford or holden is about the same. most couldn't really care about the performance segment either. cars are transport for 90% of the population.

i'm not against these products, but times change and with the focus starting to turn to local production how does it look to the general public when the manufacturers release these products that appeal to 0.01% of the new car buying public? theres a time and a place, and the current time is not it.

i would rather these manufacurers are here long term rather than 'go out with a bang' as some would call it.

putting your hand out for govt money, and then releasing cars that are well out of reach of the majority will only hurt the long term investment by the govt.

Would the engine be LSA or a LS7 as I was looking at the figures on GM crate motors and the LSA is tuneable to the figure of 575

Its good news for the holden boys. They have been getting their ***** handed to then by the ford 6 and 8 for ages. This will open a whole lot of new opportunity's for the lads. Lets hope ford respond, and the government doesnt do a SUPERCAR SCARE of 72. Government say-- " If you (holden , ford) continue to build these high powered cars the government wont buy anymore of your vehicles." And ford and holden say "we dont care no one else is buying our cars either and we are about to go broke, so not only are you going to continue to buy our cars but you are also going to give us a heap of cash to stay in business."

Ummm no . . .

I stopped reading when I saw that , it is quicker than the base model boxster and the diesel Cayenne . . . But mentioning "most" porsches is absurd as the closes comparison in price are the base ecofriendly economy models . . . He is a tool . . .

My two questions

- Is $100k asking going to be worth it?
- "Claimed 4.5 0 -100". Worth an extra $25k over a GTP if it does happen?

Not posting in biased manufacturer mode but I know where I would put my money.

As if the Times won't be exaggerated like they have many times before. Anything to keep the HSV in the limelight. They said the RSPEC didn't hit the 4.5sec mark but will no doubt say this will whether it does or nit

Its already eating Porsches and Aston Martin's for breakfast and it hasn't been driven yet.

Trouble is based on previous optimistic crankshaft KW claims made by HSV as compared to real world dyno results this will probably barely raise the bar, (if at all), on what a typical SC 335 makes and HSV's 0-100 k.p.h. performance claims will be achieved by using bigger and more expensive rubber than FPV use, as usual.

Until they line it up with and beat the FPV R Spec and 2014 model SRT8 to be fitted with launch ciontrol and ZF 8 speed and beat then both, all we have is speculative and indicative HSV "marketing speak" mindlessly parroted by biased journalists....and oh yes how could I forget, the totally relevant comparisons

What I meant was that they cop flak when their product doesn't match or better the competition, but when they do release a competetive product then it is slammed for being inappropriate. So how do they win? What can they do to keep the whingers and armchair experts happy?
In regards to their financial position, the last time I checked HSV was a separate entity to GMH, so although GMH have a stake in HSV, they have their own development budgets etc and cannot be directly linked to the redundancies you make mention of.

why the sour grapes from many on here? can taste the lemon taste in your mouths in your posts.

its a fantastic car, enormous power and a great looking car.

It will be interesting to see the comparisons with our own GT, also depending on price differential might dictate how buyers go..

On bang for buck maybe its a GT, to be the big dog maybe it means you gotta get the HSV GTS..

I say well done to HSV. They dont like us ford people kicking sand in their faces so they go and do something about it.

Yeah I agree it's ugly but then so is the FG GT.

So will Ford roll out a GTHO in response?
How about the FU GTFO.

I always find it amusing when modern Autralian "muscle" cars are compared with the legendary Phase 3.
Towards the end of the article is comparisons to MB, Porsche, etc and the good old GTHO receives a mention.
The thing is, this always happens regardless of whether it's a magazine article or a pub debate.
The legend lives on.

Is always hard to compare similar car's with different tyres. I say the mags should get the cars and put the same rubber on both. Anything else is dribble.

Everyone entitled to opinions on this forum.
63,160 members & there may be 50 that will buy one.
IMO rear still looks camry sportivo, side profile same as VE (not bad), but the front is not right (led's should have been integrated in those oversize headlights & the top/bottom mesh holes should be same size).
The interior is probably going to be a winner as it def. looks more upmarket than the pov packs of the past.
Just hope HSV don't stuff it up with garish stitching & red dash lighting.

If the whole car industry goes belly up in 2016, the VF will be the legacy of Holden performance for generations to follow.

A 430kw S/C V8 sounds pretty awesome to me. $100k+ drive away sticker and over 100kw power advantage should make it more exclusive as the flagship should be.

Hopefully the styling will be awesome to match. We will have to wait for real world performance figures though.

The problem is not at the $100,000 end of the range, it's at the $60,000 range.

315 GS flies right under the radar but you can bet that the base Clubsport 317 is under pressure to perform...

Heck, a stock XR6T probably towels it up so I think that's where HSV needs to do some work....

My guess is the artist's impression is not even close, rather a picture of an SS that somebody has merely ****ed with haphazardly.

The article needed a picture, that's all it is.
