That's true, but if refinement isn't an issue, a pre-BA without IRS has a huge weight advantage. Still need good brakes, suspension and either forced induction or a worked V8.

Indeed, I do love the aerodynamics of an EA-D over a BA, of course an AU is just as fun around corners (but doesn't look so nice).

*sniff* miss my Ea 5 speed.

Hey Ash, you said its hard getting back into your EL after driving a BF... I've driven just about every new ford there is, and I can tell you I still love getting back into my car at the end of the day. To me there is nothing more boring than getting in a dead stock XT, even a xr6 turbo doesn't excite me. Sure its quicker than the ol' crate, but mine is much more fun! I never get bored driving it and above all I put it together.

I say go the E-Series! And in the end, who cares if people move to newer cars? If one wants a newer car, then let him. What difference does it make to those of us who stay loyal to the e-series? I couldn't care less either way as long as the parts stay cheap (which they will) and I don't hit another bloody kangaroo...

Alex

I love my EA. and this year I will upgrade to maybe an EF or EL wagon and get the dickie seats put in again. Originally our plan had been to get the EA until we had enough money to buy a late model Tarago outright. But since having the EA and enjoying the ride I have decided to keep in the e-series for a few more years yet.

Actually im in the market for a BA XR8 now, because the EL II XR8 just doesnt have the scope of mods(or power) that the new BA's do, sure you guys in the earlier e-series cars have plenty of options in pinching parts off the later model e-series, but I have the last e-series so besides adding clear indicators there arent to many 'factory - ala cheap' exterior mods to be done.
To get the equivelant power as a BA XR8 out of the EL its going to cost thousands, as in alloy heads supercharger ect, and thats just to keep up with a lighty modded to stock BA.
Have a look at the Capa or Herrod sites to see how much they support the B-series compared to the e-series.

I drive BA's at work and they do everything asked of them in fact my partner i slooking at upgrading her late model laser for a BA, but when I jump in the el to go home at the end of the day I feel a lot more connected to road and car than I ever had in a BA between the electronic throtle and auto its like a time delay between foot and engine, I know it wont go as fast but I don't care, as they say love is blind

The EL's are a very nice drive, smooth and responsive however the BA has more of a presence in my opinion. Your in a different league though in the late model stuff. E Series are extremely common now for P plater's just as VN's, VS's e.t.c are for the lion fans.

That said all I do with my new cars is just drive them and minor servicing, there's no more replacing arms, bushes, ball joints, gaskets, diffs, head gaskets, tappets etc that plagued my old EA
