Many are dummy ads by dealers, there is often not a car there just a contract to sign with the same stories you read above.

This is correct. Look for the LMCT number right down the bottom of the add and it will tell you if its real or fake.

http://www.carsales.com.au/demo/deta...17111469/?Cr=0 Also, lol @ dealers thinking they'll get away with selling the XR8 at anything like $75k+, nevermind $90k. That's not to say one or two won't sell at that price to people with more dollars than sense (and good on 'em!), but for that to become the de facto RRP won't happen. (I might also just be the biggest optimist on these forums ) |

That's just wrong. I'd rather sell at RRP and have a happy customer who comes back and buys more cars from me!

I paid $59,500 for my auto XR8 including 6 year warranty. Deposit paid in Sept 2014 and delivery December 2014. Seeing some of the prices being asked ranging from 60K plus at the moment, did I get a good deal?

I've had the car over a month and have had some time to ponder the price I paid. The old story is that you should never buy a new model directly (or before in my case) after release if you want a sharp price. But with the XR8 I don't think this is proving to be the case at the moment. At the moment I feel I got in before the hype of limited numbers and therefore inflation of prices.

On a side note; I live in Kalbarri WA- seaside town where there is always a salt mist hanging over the town. Would you guys consider an electronic anti-corrosive system? CAT one I am looking at is $600 for four pads. The BA I currently have has no rust (except superficial on the tow ball) and has resided here for the last 5 years. Dad says the metals these days are much more resistant to rust and just wash it often. Thoughts. |

Excellent price, the closest i could get was 62k. My only concern would be the resale considering its technically a year old. Not a factor if you're keeping it long term.

Have no idea. I only found out that I had a (limited) extended Warranty during the delivery process. Not a like-for-like warranty but it covers major items including engine/gearbox.
Only things thrown in were full tank (didn't last long ) and mats (which I haven't received yet because Ford haven't supplied dealers with them yet). Organised tint elsewhere to avoid paying extra stamp duty.

In most cases (not mine) with falcons the power train has always been strong and reliable if serviced/maintained correctly, can't see u having major issues. It's the bumper to bumper stuff that let's it down sometimes, the little things. In my FG F6 went through about 4 gear stick rubbers, few taillights due to moisture, ambient air temp sensor, drivers seat due to squeaking internally around corners, A/C mixer shaft (10000kms no A/C in summer n dealership wasn't to interested in fixing it). The biggest failure of them all was engine failure with less than 1000kms on the clock. In saying that I didn't even think twice about placing an order for a FGX XR8 but that dealer defo didn't get the sale. |

Personally, if I was handing over 70+k I'd be getting a low km GT-Rspec manual in either white or red.

Yeah that's the reality of it for many buyers............who knows it might even give some of the second hand 335 FPV cars that are going stale for sale atm a bit of a kick start ...funny thing is it kind of reminds me of some of the action I saw in car yards that specialised in high performance cars here in Perth when the XB GT was discontinued, they too actually held there value for a couple of years. I could be wrong but you only pay stamp duty on the sale price of the motor vehicle. 54690 and I pay 3554.85 stamp duty. Did you pay the same as that?
Either way you still got a good deal. I know I have been saying it because it has been said to me but, however unlikely, with all this demand maybe ford's eyes will light up and they will get some more out. |

Mine was built by D.W whom I am advised are the initials for David Winter. Totally agree about extending our thanks to our engine builders. Bloody brilliant work! Cheers, Brent

We still have our Kinectic Blue Auto XR8 for sale.
http://www.carsales.com.au/bncis/det.../?Cr=0&sdmvc=1 And for everyone out there just because you put a deposit on a manual it does not mean you will get one. The dealer can only do what they can do and from what I can see is that there will be a lot of people who ordered a manual that will not get one |
