A long time ago, when some viewers were still swingin' in dads bag, (early 1990's) I had a friend whom I met through work. Worked with him everyday for 3+ years. We became great mates, and socialised at every opportunity after work hours. For example, if I needed something, I could pick up the phone anytime day or night and ask. The answer would always be the same... What do you need? Where are you? was the response. NOT a swear word or curse before asking "what do you want". A true friend. Was very said when he passed. We were like brothers. We never talked about work.. well, if work did come up, it was only to do with someone at work, that had a car problem. That's it. We were both rev / petrol heads, and had no need to talk about work. A common interest. So.. just sayin, alot of the people we work with aren't worth the time of day outside of work because there's nothing in common, apart from work I spose. 99% of the current peeps I work with are cool. Would I buy any of them a beer? Yes, One maybe 2 of them. Why? Because they actually say things that are worth remembering. Intelligent people with many varied interests, like myself. A broad range of things / topics to yak about. I think that's the key, to a happy end of year work "party". As Vekgib said, Why have a whinge on your own time and NOT be paid for it? Couldn't agree with you more Vekgib. Happy December everyone. One Man

helping Mr. Bender find some needed parts
pity it only took 3 sellers [on marketplace] to get a reply back! [1 replied days later - sorry sold, another didn't reply & last was pretty quick] |

I have a network of long-term friends from previous work occupations who I keep in contact with, but unfortunately with the current work associates I have, they are obnoxious at times, tried my best over the years to be nice & sociable only to have these mugs take advantage of me with work ethics, think you should guess what I'm trying to say. In a sense I would have moved on in my employment, as I have done this in the past with some of my working careers, but this current employment has so many benefits and conditions that suits me is the reason I stay, I know how to handle these types, so will see it out to my retirement in the next 12 months. Cheers mate. |

Twas yester dee actually but still made me feel good.
I had 5 pallets on the truck. I unloaded 2 pallets of wine from the head (front of the truck for those playing along at home) of the truck leaving 2 empty spaces, then 3 pallets of stock for Woollies DC. Trundling along Grand Junction Rd, old Asain mate decides to do a snap decision brake, left turn, then indicate type maneuver. Car in front of me hits the pix pretty hard.. now it was my turn. No probs stopping... easily had 20 - 30 mm clearance before impact.. but I did feel and hear BAD noises from the stock in the back of the truck. I mentally pictured a "Please explain" moment kinda of noise and thud. FSCK FSCK. Don't need this. What made me feel good about that? Well, I decided when I left the last drop off to strap the 1st 2 pallets down, and not bother moving them up to the front as I had an 11am time slot, and was time poor. Paid off. The stock didn't move a mm during the 'braking event'. The empty pallets at the back of the truck on the other hand, sorta looked a bit worse for wear.. (not neatly stacked anymore) and my 'puller bar' slide from the back of the truck to the Woolies pallets, making the bad noise I heard. If you think your ears are sensitive when rubbing one out... try driving a truck with expensive wine onboard!!! So that made me feel good. Knowing that spending 2 minutes strapping down actually saves 2 hours worth of drama and broken stock. Might pay to remember this peoples. Happy Friday being a black one and all. Cheers, One Mad black Friday Man

Packed up ready to go to the air port and head home to Perth after a little holiday in NZ.
My disabled brother went to hospital day I left, he's still there, not doing well, so back to dramas when I get home, poor guy has had a real bad trot recently. Hope he remembers me, dementia is getting worse, his not mine. Miss my dog so be good to see the old girl.

Sorry to hear about your brother being in hospital, I do hope he remembers you. It’s the moments of clarity that randomly pop out from the mental haze, which I found particularly sad.

Although not a good sign as our company has sent people on holidays earlier then planned but I am on annual leave for the next five weeks.

Did a quick calculation and I have enough leave up my sleeve to take every second Monday off next year (already work a 9 day fortnight). That means I'll effectively have a four day week every week
Raised the prospect with the boss yesterday, and he said that arrangement didn't have any negative impacts this year, and it was first in, best dressed, so get your apps in! And I'll still have another 20 odd days available should I want it.

Made my Xmas donation to foodbank today. They're running a promo today where any donations will be matched by a very generous supporter, up to a maximum of $250k.
That means my donation will effectively fund 800 meals. Only a small portion of the meals required to feed the 69,000 people foodbank feeds every day in this country, but every little bit helps. Next week I'll go into target and donate a toy for a boy and another for a girl, a tradition I've done for years.

A missing car part sent from Lithuania, has finally arrived in the country after six weeks. “Airmail” my spotty white backside. Was thinking I’d burned $160.
And I’ve had an earworm all day of Herbie Hancock’s original Watermelon Man. Absolutely love that groove; the “Chicago Sound” is a favourite. |

Laughing at a newer VG Auto Paints staff member, sulking because someone ordered him a sundae with chocolate syrup and he doesn’t like chocolate syrup. Matt (long term employee) was happy to take the uneaten sundae off his hands.
Then, same guy, later asking other staff if the Steggles factory shop (next door) sold turkeys at Christmas. I had to bite my tongue; was itching to say “Sure, but they all come with chocolate syrup”. |

Not just today, but it did make me feel good AGAIN today.
I have discovered a food hack at Hungry Jacks that's worth a mention to those that have Thalidomide disease. A $4.80 custom Chicken Royale burger. When ordering, say that you don't want: Mayo. Then tell them you do want: Jalapeños Spicy sauce A little bit of lettuce Onion And done. That's my TA go to burger when I'm desperate. I rarely eat their "food".. but when I do it's always the same. $4.80, Winner! Cheers, One Mad Man

Looking at another relaxing train ride back home today from Albury.
Maybe it might be free again like the trip up but are happy to pay. Seems every time we board at our little country station the train conductor never wants to take our money. OneMadMan....are you ever tempted to use the drive through.

- No. The truck doesn't fit in the drive through.. - - Come to think of it, I can't pay for fuel at the Hungry Jacks pay point as it's always declined, with the message "part payment not accepted here".Walk another 30 steps to the OTR counter and all is good in the land of free fuel.. for the truck that is.---- One Mad Man

Even though Betty the Maggie, has stopped close interactions with me, her & the gang seem to have my back!
Have some problem pigeons messing in the stables & the last few times i've gone on the attack, so have the Maggies, with staggered dive bombing. (: |

I saw a magpie standing on the roof of my parked car as I walked towards it yesterday.
Gave the keyfob a push to activate the horn and scare him off. First push, he shat on the roof. 2nd push, he flew up a metre above to a low branch and watch me... if he could laugh Im sure he would have. (On topic, but not the correct thread 😄....probably made the maggie feel good) |

Finally, after 3yrs and 2 months, today we received an early Xmas present in the form of the completed handover of our new house build.
Haven't even moved in yet and its doubled in value over what we paid. |

Only sixteen hours and it’s bedtime. There’s way too much on today and very little of it can be deferred or could have been brought forward in the week.
