I'm a Windsor man, thru and thru, so I'd have an original 69-70 Boss 302, even tho they had Cleveland heads, which we all know made 1 of the best V8's ever conceived.

Dont get me wrong, i love the BOSS 302 but ive allways wanted to know why everyone generally accepts that the BOSS 302 was an awesome engine (which it was) because of the Big port 4V heads yet some people bag the 4V headed 351 cleveland because the heads are basically the same big port 4V's???!!!
The 351C is bigger in capacity so it should suit the heads better than the 302!! Got to love myths and "urban" truths.....

Decisions, Decisions.... I said Clevo cause I love the one that's in my XY and there's no chance of a change but I'm sure a 427 or a big block would do the job just nicely

As much as I love my Clevo, my vote goes to the 385 series block, stroked and poked to 500+ cubes and fitted with Ford Motorsport A442 SuperSwirl Boss 429 style heads. Serious Ownage of any other Ford V8 in terms of sheer horsepower.
{edit} OK, 1969/1970 Boss 429 to clarify.

You'd have to agree that the Cleveland (in original form, not aftermarket alloy) is a heavy bugger. Moffat proved that when he swapped the Boss 302 in his Mustang for the Cleveland out of his Super Falcon in the early 70's and found it totally changed the car's handling, for the worse. I'd have had Clevo's in the past, and my old man club races 1 down here these days in his 82 Dick Johnson 'Red Roo Pipe' replica, but I just prefer the light weight, revvy little Windsor is all. |

yeah i own a 6, but having gone for a ride in a phase 2 as my first real car experience... love them... at full noise, yes please...
also been for a ride in a 460 bb xb coupe, wouldnt say no to one of them either... dont want the fuel and maintenance bills on them thogh... would say the cleveland as it would handle better, and can make the same kind of figures if you try... |

well, i've never owned any of the early v8's, big blocks, boss or 351 windsor so i cannot comment on those.
the 2 barrel 302w has a soft spot for me as it was the first v8 i owned, very basic no pollution $hit. the EFI 5.0 was nice but i may as well have bought a six. i've had many 4.9/5.8 clevelands and they speak for themselves, easy to get power but huge on fuel usage. for refinement, power and fuel usage nothing i have mentioned gets even close to the Boss 290. |

Pull the hair dryer off your six, then see how well you pull against it with your taxi motor.

Just remember, throw some boost on an 8 and you won't see which way they went. /me points at "OVA 800", John White's twin turbo 408 windsor in a 67 Mustang. Boost + Cubes >>>> You.
