Ok ?

This will happen here one day.
CAV is right though, leadership/political incompetence and stupidity has exacerbated the problem, and you're right, it will happen here, already has.

Hopefully none, but considering every time theres a fire event like this people leave it untill the last second to get to safety, anything s possible.

Yes Victoria, it’ll happen here. The Andrews / Allan governments are the most incompetent ever.

I was visiting friends in California back in 2016, they asked what state in Australia was most like California, told them Victoria and they were surprised untill they read into the bs that goes on and quite rapidly agreed

My mum is from vic, and when covid was a thing she cracked it because she got free official covid tests when she was showing symptoms, but when she wanted to travel, its "the bloody government" forcing her to pay for a covid test for her travel clearance.

Well mum.... considering that Victoria is the second most populous state in Australia yet represented over 2/3rds the covid cases & fatalities, and that victorians were the most prolific travellers and border jumpers while claiming "they have rights", is it any bloody wonder everyone else wants you guys to me 100% clear before you do anything?

bloody victorians!

It is absolutely horrific what is happening there, and, even when it's all over, the shortages of housing and infrastructure are going to bight hard. And as always, it will be those at the bottom of the pile that lose out. The Rich won't stay homeless for long:
  • Theirs will be the first claims settled
  • They'll immediately buy or rent elsewhere, put prices and rents through the roof
  • They'll be able to pay the premium to rebuilt quickly
They'll be back to life as usual, whilst the poor people are still living in tents and fighting their insurance companies.

And it does highlight a growing problem in the USA.
We've had the same problems here for years, but the difference is that our local governments don't do much beyond collecting the rubbish.
In the USA, it is the local government that provides the Police, Emergency Services, Education, Hospitals, and Public Housing. They are always strapped for cash, and wasting it on bullshit really comes back to bite people.
When the City of Wanneroo wastes a few thousand on rainbows, it doesn't really matter. But when a City like LA diverts hundreds of millions away from necessary services, to fund woke political bs, it is a big deal.

For an organisation like Cal-Fire, a large part of their job is fire prevention. Managing breaks, reducing fuel, maintaining infrastructure, etc, etc. Slashing $100M out of their budget has taken a massive toll.
If Newsom was a CEO, he'd be facing criminal charges.

Don't be surprised if one of President Crazy-Pants first acts is to Federalise the California National Guard.

Even if emergency services funding was on a state level like in Australia, it wouldnt help California with its political and social mentality.

Actually only $17.6m USD, but still unforgivable.

1: If nuisance & bass were to be treated as CEO's, you can guarantee thatthey'd have some slimeball lawyer manipulate the law with the governments help.
2: Go get'em Luigi!

Us. A roof over your head, food in your table, clothes on your back, health, security and education are the most basic human rights. Nobody, especially kids, should have to go without any of these.

Let the government look after the people they’re supposed to represent and fight the insurance agencies themselves.

The 2024-25 California state budget, which Governor Gavin Newsom signed into law in June 2024, slashed funding for wildfire and forest resilience by $101 million as part of a series of cutbacks according to an analysis by the state's Legislative Analyst's Office.
  4. Okayyyy
  5. You should probably halve your coffee consumption. AND switch to decaf.
