yer forget about dishwashing liquid and more so Truck Wash especially on paint.
Too damn harsh.
yer give it a good bath and dry.
Claybar it.
I've used
P21S Paintwork Cleansing Lotion is a pre-wax cleaner and polish, made from a special blend of cleansing agents.

Then use your favoured wax and finish.

Hey CATXR8, as usual very nice - haven't used any Wolfgang but read good reviews.

Is iron decontamination suggested every time or only when needed (how can I tell)? And will a dishwashing liquid or truck wash do the job to strip wax etc or best to still get a professional product for this?
I'm pretty sure you can get iron contamination from the brake discs. Not just from what's in the air.

I'd do it if it hasn't been done before. But probably wouldn't do it everytime.

I used Iron-X from CarPro. You would be surprised at how much iron it exposes when you use it.

My experience with truck wash or any of those washes that remove grime as a spray are not that good for car paint.

I'm not sure of any product that smells like that new car smell.
Only that if having leather seats some of those products leave that good ol worn leather smell of the past.
Funny you mention that, my Sprint still has the new car smell from the day I drove it out.
Being not a daily I suppose helps retaining that smell.

I got the hose out the other day. Seems to work great both inside and out. Can't understand why the gauges are all suddenly fogged up.

You will be surprised how much iron contamination your car has despite it being relatively new.

There are two types of iron decon, mechanical (clay bar) and chemical (Iron X / Bowdens Three Way ect). Clay bars can induce some paint marring, but you plan on polishing so that shouldn't be a problem. Iron Deco products simply melt the contaminants away. Both of these products only need to be used every year or so depending on the vehicles usage. I personally think people use a clay bar far too often.

Also, please don't use dish soap. The Clay bar and polishing process will remove the old wax/ sealant.

For you, I would use the following process -

1. Wash the vehicle.
2. Whist still wet, but out of the sun, use a clay bar with either a quick detailer or a soapy water solution.
3. Dry vehicle.
4. Polish with an all in one type product. Scholl stuff is excellent, as is Autoglym Super Resin.
5. Wipe the vehicle down with IPA or a something like Bowdens Flash Prep or CarPro Reset.
6. Apply a wax/sealant/coating.

My XR6 and XR8 still smell like new.

How? I NEVER wind the windows down and rarely drive them. Easy!

I have also very rarely use highly scented products inside the cabin. A damp microfibre to wipe dust away is about it.

It seems strange that there are not many car detailer spec vacuums.

I'm using this Bosch at the moment -

https://www.bosch-home.com.au/produc...ers/BGS5ZOOOAU

If you have pet hair to tame, no vacuum will conquer that stuff. Use a Lilly Brush.

I also find having a stiff bristle brush handy for stubborn carpet spots to help lift the dirt whilst closely following with the vacuum nozzle.

Considering the OP mentioned Bowden's, I thought I would post these here.

I used Leather Love and Leather Guard today. Love how easy these two are to use and leave leather trim with nice low sheen finish.

And I broke out the Boss Gloss to shine up some wheels.

Correct, I would have thought there would be more options but not much.
I'm after a small user freindly one compared to that Bosch you use.
I'm seeing those Big Boi's the R......strong suction not sure but write ups are positive and obviously can use as a drier.
I just want to see more options, might check out some US sites.

When I was looking to buy a car blower, I contemplated getting something that would both blow dry the exterior and vacuum the interior, two products in one.

I ended up going for a blower only, the idea being to eliminate the "jack of all trades, master of none" situation.

That Bosch has landed in the garage because the indoor vacuum was updated to a stick vacuum.

Car detailing product at are like Engine Oil choices. But with more choices!

I bought one Bowden's Own product (Fully Slick) and things just escalated. The thing I like is that they just work. Every product I bought just works!

I've found a YouTube channel that tests Fully Slick and also Happy Ending against some high end competitors. The below is Fully Slick.

https://youtu.be/3EzZ9nelfhk

And this is Happy Ending

https://youtu.be/QDV9MnjM2jE

I just purchased this. Just waiting on my Snow.Cannon so I can test it out! Went over my partners car with Fully Slick yesterday. I had already detailed it and decontaminated the paint with two layers of Collonite wax. Now it feels slippier than a Politicians promise.

Also got a small free sample of Nanolicious Wash. Smells great, and 30ml is more than enough for 10L of water. Also rinses out of my wash mitt very easily.

Wheely Clean is great. Even their foam "All Sorts" tryre applicator pads are great..Snow Job is a great product and love the 3 way decontamination spray.

I haven't tried Bead Machine sealant yet, and it would take a lot for me to drop off Collonite #845. They don't make a polishing compound yet so Meguiar's Ultimate Compound / Polish are still my go to.for doing work by hand.

This one doesn't use brushes. It is touchless.
It can be a good prewash then go home and start detailing if you want

After trying several brands of washes, waxes, polishes, glazes and sealants over the past 10 years and spending a small fortune I've now settled on Duragloss and Scholl products along with Stoners invisible glass.

If I need something in a hurry I can't wait for I'll just use Meguiars or Bowdens

better off washing at home for the least amount of dust on your clear coat.

As mentioned it's the Chemicals. One member on here runs a hydraulic hose business and has told me that in the car wash places he goes to he replaces their Stainless steel hoses every two years.
