When you interview them, they talk as if it is the way it should be

The Police we get out my way is when my brother comes to visit.
Haven't seen one on the highway for years. Lots of cameras closer to Perth though.

I have no basis for comparison between now and then. But what I will say and believe I have said once or twice before, for the most part the general public will only interact with the police on traffic matters. Yes it sucks getting fined and I'm sure the police themselves consider a lot of it a waste of time. But be grateful if that is all you have to.
The fact is they do much more than hand out defects and speeding fines. As someone that has probably had the local station around my house more times than most, it takes someone that genuinely wants to serve their community to do that job and they are very patient. No way I would put up with the **** they do. |

seems as though the police are regulated to a point that even though the officers themselves are wanting to serve the community legislation and administration tasks have taken priority.
I thank everybody who contributed to this thread, your information was very helpful |

Small country towns still have the small stations. With the one local officer, that knows everyone. If you show the Police respect, you get respect in return. I have done things that warranted a fine at least, and was let go on my way. Have copped an earful, and told to pull my head in on more than one occasion when younger though.
