Hmm, just filled up tank of 95 at $1.52 per litre. As I drove off and past other servos, a lot were sitting on $1.64 per litre for 91.

I always fill up with 98 only, and I have always known I’m being ripped … But that part of the joy of living in a lucky country, I mean where else in the world would you be paying double or triple for just about every product or service!

Fill up at 98 and go burn it

Bloody hell 60 ltrs x $1.65 = $99 bucks! Wonder if LPG fitters will get stormed like when they ran out of gas tanks back in 08?

70 ltrs of LPG x 70c ltr = $49..... That's $50 saving!

$1.69 for 95 at BP. How much higher do you think we'll see before, or if, prices dip again?

those who like to carry on like ACA every time fuel goes up or down, do yourself and your heart rate a favour, and don't look at the servo price at all. when your car gets empty, drive in, fill it up to your desired level, walk in and pay and then be on your way. its a relatively simple process and your bill will only ever vary by about $15 tops, and that would be a rarity.

i rarely look at the price. i use bp ultimate exclusively. i always fill my tank to the brim and drive until its empty. sometimes its $90. sometimes its up to $105 give or take.

you will soon realise its nothing to get stressed about. life keeps going.

Navara's are cheaper than Hiluxs for a reason AND I heard from my brothers mate that has one that they need clutches replaced every 30,000k's and that was straight from a Nissan dealer workshop mechanic!

Yep thats exactly what I do. Just pull into the closest servo once the light comes on and fill the tank to the brim with zero consideration on price. Usually dont even look at the board.

Only thing I take any notice of is how many litres I can actually squeeze into my 65 litre tank, which is never more than 60 litres no matter how dry I run it, after about 350 - 400km of city driving. Not bad for an old XH pano it would seem

yeah, and yet i bet they have a 100 inch flat screen tv.

people prioritise in different ways. driving cars is a choice, and like most choices we make, there is a cost involved. if you can't afford the fuel, then you need to look at how you budget or choose a better form of transport. harsh, but simple.

we're talking a handful of loose change here. if you are genuinely hard up, and must fill up on an expensive day, then just put a bit in and wait for the low point in the cycle. otherwise most people that cry poor seem to have plenty of funds to buy the latest gadgets, download numerous 'must haves', fund their alcohol/nicotine addictions, and keep up with the latest fashions and trends.

for many, fuel is a necessity. just deal with it.

Yeah you could probably get away with 95, but it does recommend 98 on the inside of the lid. Forgot to mention the fuel I put in was 100RON. Apparently. It was a United servo north of Adelaide.

The 86 is pretty good on fuel so far. I can easily get it below 7L/100km. Most of the time it's above that though. heh.

I take objection to this comment. For some, driving a car is not a choice, particularly for work and family commitments. I live in the SE suburbs of Melbourne. My work can choose to mobilise me from the city where I currently work to Tullamarine on shift or standard hours. I would need a car as there is no form of public transport. Knocking back the move would not be an option. And because of this, I would not have an option of waiting for the cheaper fuel days - I would just have to deal with it. But I am incredibly lucky and I can deal with it if I am careful.

I think for many, $15-$20 these days is not loose change any more.

Don't take offence at my reply. It's just I don't see a lot of spare money in my circle of friends. We are all doing ok, we just don't have anything extra.

Interesting take.

I live in regional vic, due to the unafordability of housing any closer to the sprawl.

Your comment of deal with it, takes chunks out of the household budget.
Dont tell me to sell and move closer, this is the closest we can afford.
Some weeks the wife uses two fills to work.
Her car is parked and she drives my ute because its on lpg.

These price spikes are bull, there is no reason other than rhetoric that our prices arent closer to the us pricing.

The little few cents a litre change can be significant to those who are on a shoestring as it is.

Consider this.
My work vehicle carries 850l of diesel, which i use 2/3 a day.

Doesnt take long for a very small difference to have a big impact.

What we need, is for the governemnt to come clean about taxation on fuels, and remove all but the GST, as was intended.

Multiple taxlevels are nothing but fail

Geezz sorry we aren't all multimillionaires like yourself who don't need to worry about the cost of living going up, year after year while wages stay stagnet. Fuel prices go up and so does everything else!

The only way to fix the fuel price issue is don't fill up at Shell / Coles or Woolworths / Caltex. They are ones who have ****** the industry! Time to boycott them! Will be a dead day in hell before I ever use Woolworths or Coles petrol, and I have even given them the *** for my groceries.

Wonder whatever happened to the plans for Costco to open their own servos. Was looking forward to the competition effect.

Most likley frustrated in the planning/ submissions stage.

Seems to be the way any hint of competition to a major is treated these days
