chinese copy watch, might not work after a few days and the band will probably turn your wrist green, but it will look great for the first couple of days.

$1800 DELIVERED?

Careful. Omega's Australian warranty centre wont cover any work on watches that are not purchased from Authorised retailers.

You could pick one up from an Authorised Agent for close to that price anyway.

did you have to pay duty or gst?

P.S. I hope the watch is better quality than the spelling of their website! :

Do you mean you paid $2000 all up?

Did it come in an Omega box, Certificate, Booklet?

And does it also have warranty?

Yes, The final price actually worked out to be $1940.

I hunted a few places in brisbane and up here in townsville. One mob in townsville would do it for $2750, and a place in brisbane would do it for $2420.

One thing I did forget about was the extra import and GST ( $180 aus )

But overall very pleased with purhcase. It came in omega box with 1 inch thick booklet, and 3 certificates, one for the international warranty, one for the chronometer certification and one for the pictograms.

And it has 3 year warranty.

Its a couple of years old now, but I have an All Titanium Citizen Blue Angels Chrono . One of my mates bought his in Aus a 3 years ago and it cost him nearly $3500 . I bought mine diect from the states about 15 months ago for $876Aus delivered . Yep , he was spewin ! Great watch but. I have worn it once , when I first got it . Just pulled it out of its box to have a look , and its stopped . but after a minute of gentle shaking its come to life ! its still even set to the right time !I should have said the digital time is still correct, but the chrono part had stopped .Its all working now.

May I ask why you don't wear it?

Unless the analog is mechanical, it should be going along with the digital section. A mechanical/quartz combo would be very unusual. If it's all quartz, then your analog is faulty.

Is the warranty with Omega (so you can have it fixed by any agent here) or do you have to ship it back to th US?

ITs an international warranty, and yes I questioned is that warranty covered by AD's in Australia. If anything ever goes wrong I have to send it to Brisbane...

Do you know something about SMP's that I dont ?

I guess it's pointless to mention that my Daffy Duck watch (given as a joke 10 years ago) keeps great time and the batteries cost more than the watch did

I dont wear it much cause I have another good stainless steel casio watch that is way less expensive and it gets abused abit while im working so I just use that one. I should wear the seiko more and I will . Its too much watch not to use I suppose . The reason the chrono part stops is apperently to conserve energy . When the watch isnt being moved about or exposed to some form of light ( It has kinetic and solar recharge capabilities) it goes into power conservation mode or something like that and after 12 months or more in its original box and in a closed cupboard it still held the correct time ! Its a fantastic watch and I couldnt believe how light it was when I held my mates for the first time.

I know people have hobbies and things, and of course I know there are watch collectors out there, but if you are just looking at a watch to tell you the time, why bother paying any more than $100? I just don't understand, am I missing something? hehe, please enlighten me somebody!

My watch cost $300 it tells the time as good as a $30 watch I have you can buy a car for $30000 or for $300000 they will both get you from pointa to point b .
I think people have a desire or passion for what they are interested in .
I wouldnt put a huge stereo system in a car or buy a 4 cyl pos and spend double the price on rice and wheels etc.
I would rather have that omega than spend money on something that has no appeal to me everyones different. A good watch is like a high performance car beautiful

Some people I know spend $50 000 on a boat, to take it fishing 3 times a year, and burn $1000 of fuel each time. ( mate of mine, who also then spent about $40 000 on a shed to put the boat in )

Others spend $30 000 on a drag car to race it for 10 seconds. ( brother in law, who then had to buy a $5000 trailer and a $15 000 ute to tow it ! )

And yeah, some spend $100 000 on a car, when a $25 000 car will do.. ( brother )

I have wanted either an Omega Seamaster or a Rolex Seadweller for a while, and I dont have the big boat, or drag car, or dirtbikes ( any more ), , I now settle for comfort stuff like Air conditioning the entire home with Dakin, , buying custom made leather lounge, , having a decent movie set up , etc etc.

I have got 3 watches myself.
1. Rolex
http://www.perfect-timing.biz/produc...ULLMOPD-1/?i=2
Have only wear it less than 10 times since i got it.

2. TAG Heuer
http://www.tagheuer.com/the-collecti...=CL111A.BA0700
Have only wear it for 3 mths straight.

3. Casio
http://www.casio.com/products/archiv...ock/G531D-4AV/
i wear the casio watch everyday as i don't ever take it off
cos it is cheap and robust.

Now the Rolex & TAG is always in the safe being lock up,
casio is the way to go no worries & hassles if i were to scratch it.

Has anyone got any suggestions, ideas, recommendations from the following things I am looking for.

Automatic / Quartz.. around the $2000 mark.

Chrono, , but some of the omega's that are not chrono are good..

Not too thick, as some of the automatic swiss watches are quite thick.

Tag, Omega, Longines, ,

Maybe there is someone here that is a wizard, or works in the industry.

I've never understood people who purchase a Rolex and put it in a safe and never wear them, it does the watch movement no favours by leaving it unused and the Day-Date models don't exactly appreciate in value. The oyster case is very robust, I've hit mine up against things by accident and they take the beating well.

Sorry but to me that Rolex presidential looks a bit over the top for my taste. To each their own though.

ACDC, nice choice on the Omega Seamaster.

After reading this thread a few weeks back now I have been looking at my next watch purchase with the links provided here. I have always liked and appreciated watches and have always wanted to start a small collection one day. I am in the position to start doing this now but have never got around to it.

Since I last visited this thread, I too have narrowed my next watch down to an Omega but am leaning toward the Speedmaster Professional Chrono rather than a Seamaster like yours. Now I am doing quite a bit of research on the various models and movements and have my feelers out looking for one.

As they have been making the Speedmaster for 50 years, I may even look at buying a new old stock item or a preloved one in showroom condition off a collector.

Thanks for re-igniting my interest in watches mate!

To those that can't see the value or sense in sending this type of money on a watch, think about it a bit more. You are buying a precision made timepiece ( possibly handmade depending on the watch) that if looked after, will last a lifetime and will appreciate in value over time. Its a great collectable IMO.

Yes, , that Rolex is definatley "flash". I would like to see a photo, considering is a $50 000 watch I cant imagine too many people having such as watch

As for re-igniting your interest, check out a Hamilton, Tissot or Oris, as these can be found for around $500
