Ours took a few cranks to start once, that raised an eyebrow:!) but it's only done that once and I have no clue why

Picked the car up. What they did was updated the ECU with a new program, that all.

That should be all that's required. That and running it on quality 98 octane fuel.

Let us know how it goes.

Not sure what cars youve been around but every car we have at work that has any missing paint starts to rust almost immediately. And these are vehicles from Japan, Thailand, Australia and Europe.

If it has primer coat, it does not rust.

What people are talking about here is lack of the gloss base coat and clear.

It is very common on cars at this end of the market.

It only surprised me because I have been used to mid range models like out GTI.

I have a VP Commodore that's had the body deadner removed, I've never bothered to re-paint the bare metal and it's rust free after 2 years, even inside the boot which leaks a bit. The shell gets dipped and coated in zinc and such, so long as you don't scratch that off it wont rust. Anything decent built post the late 80s should be the same

I'll keep you posted CDAA. Wife had already top the fuel up so pretty sure she only put in standard. Next top I’ll put in 95 or 98.
I'll also take a photo for you in regards to the rear park assist. We have a small devise on the inside that tells us the distance.

Pays to know someone that's in the tinting game.

Regulations? I didn't know that there was one.............lol. Our window tint law is pretty relaxed here in NSW even tho it's illegal that's why I get them at 15%. I like them dark looks better

I'd check with ur insurance company, the problem isnt with getting booked, the problem is if you have an accident the inspector from the insurance company will probably void your claim because of the tint. It happened to a mate of mine, cost him a fortune!!!

Oh there are a number of guys that will tint below the maximum level (had my Forester done at 15%)

However, I had to get the tint redone in the Forester after being stopped by the BIB's a month after getting it done.

Also, can't tell on yours but the front 1/4 window can't legally be tinted either as it is not part of the front door.

I'm sure you will be OK but it is a bugger if you get pulled up.

I also had a mate booked for it when they stopped him for an RBT, thats when they get you for stupid stuff like window tint.

Wow, I never knew we weren't supposed/allowed to tint the front 1/4 windows cause its always been tinted with all my cars that had one.

Man, voiding insurance claim just because of tinting is getting a little excessive and . It just goes to show that insurance companies will do anything and everything to avoid paying up.

Most 1/4 windows are often part of the front door and so can be tinted

However, some of the smaller cars like the Fiesta and Jazz now have the front 1/4 window as part of the front part of the car.

NSW regs only allow front and rear door windows and rear window to be tinted.

Most BIB's won't worry about the front 1/4 window but insurance does have a way out if you get it done - the front 1/4 window is often seen as a visibility feature.

However, I know of people at work that have voided their insurance with darker than legal tint.

Ok I didn't know that you can't tint the front 1/4 window. It doesn't do much on the fiesta you can hardly see the front 1/4 window when you’re driving with all that plastic around the pillar (only passenger side) but who looks out that.

Well you learn something new every day.

Looks suberb Black Betty. I actually had might done to the letter of the law in SA (35%) this time and in my opinion it's not dark enough. Then again, something on there looks better than nothing.

Interesting that each state has different legal tint levels. We are getting "the darkest legal tint" (which they make it sound like it's black), but when I saw a car done my first thought was that it was hardly worth it (in Vic)

35% is the legal limit. I would be interested in to know what the privacy glass is on most new cars. Just by looking to me I think it would be close it 15%.

It's becoming standard on most new cars today.

AFAIK, privacy glass is restricted to rear window and rear door glass.

ie not on front door glass.

Trouble is, you then can't effectively match the tint.

The Forester XT privacy glass was about 15% from memory. Looked very dark too. Have only been in one with it for a short drive at night.

Gotta say, it did reduce vision of objects to a point it would worry me.

Mind you, I'm an old fart :

love the 15% tint, great privacy and very cool looking.

deciding the tint now for my sister's fiesta, leaning towards the 28% so she wont have issue reversing car in the dark at night. Will get a windscreen glare strip put on as well such the car has such raked and big windscreen.

Tinted the side and rear windows. FWIW, haven't noticed an issue with glare on the steeply raked screen so didn't worry about a glare strip. Have, however, ordered a dash mat to cover the enormous dashboard.

Good stuff Fiesta Girl. I also haven't noticed any glare. Not wrong about the dash its huge asked the dealer for one as a freebie wasn't so lucky. I'll look at getting one before summer arrives.

FWIW?

Now that you guys got the cars tinted makes me want to jump in as well. Do they tint the little section above the side mirrors? What about the rear little triangles (for 5 door owners)?

Is $250 (Tint-a-car) a good price? Or can I expect to get around $200??

Well they did on mine...everything except the windscreen and mirrors ;>)

It'd be simple if there was only one type of tint...but there isn't. Basically, you get what you paid for. Tint a Car offers a number of different types. For $250 I'd say you are getting the "basic" tint. I paid $395 for "Defence Pak" but its warrantied for life and reflects heat as well as UV.
