Slackers! :

Anyway, a bit of an update: Went to the hospital tonight & found that Jessica's had the feeding tube put back in. She's just become a little too lethargic (spelling) to feed from the bottle. More interested in gazing & sleeping lol. Nurse said it's normal for a prem at her gestation to be like this (up's & down's with feeding) and that it should pass within a couple of days or so. Bit stressed about it but hopefully she'll be fine.

Thats great news about the birth of little Jessica! We hope she is feeding better soon though, she does sound very strong and healthy, so she will be fine. She looks adorable from the pics!

Take care and enjoy her, and before you know it she will be eating more than you ever thought possible! Hehe.

Dont fret too much about the relapse in the feeding. This happened quiet frequently with Zac. It is frustrating and scary but these tough little buggers seem only to do this to keep us on our toes. Its a continual thing through their lives :P

When I finally got Zac home I had to set the alarm for every two hours 24hrs a day to feed him as he was the same, sleepy and lethargic. Was great fun :S .... but we survived as we all do and that was only for a few weeks ......waking a sleeping baby just didn't seem right ;)

Give her a big cuddle for us and keep updating us too. Know that there are a lot of us out here with practice with these precious little ones. If you ever need a chat about it all send me a PM.

Dont forget to krissy that bubs with jaundice even tho they have been underlights can be a little lethargic to feed as well. She will be fine, she is probably just sussing everything out and working out how she can escape. lol. If you guys need a break going to hospital to feed bubs let me know I will gladly do it for you. And you know how much I love kids.

Thankyou. Always helps to know someone's willing to lend an ear if needed.

Must admit, things are a bit overwhelming at the moment. It's very hard emotionally especially with me here and her there. Also doesn't help when you're made to feel like an idiot when it comes to your own child but that's another story :

I used to pull my feeding tube out with my little finger on a regular basis. It was only when the newspaper people were taking pictures and I did it, that they realised what was going on!

Zac did exactly the same thing. I had a stupid nurse trying to blame me. I hated the tube yes but I knew it was a necessity. Silly nurses who have never had a child & think they know it all .....

Hows she going today Krissy ??

She's doing well. We went to do her 6pm feed and for the first time in days she took the whole bottle (70mls) & no tube feeding. It takes a bit to keep her awake but we've come up with a way of doing it. We do a nappy change half way through the feed rather than before. It wakes her and gets her alert then give her maybe 2-3 minutes and she's demanding her milk again. Then it's just a matter of annoying her a little (tickles etc) just to keep her sucking and moving her chin to remind her to suck. So far, that way of doing things is working, So it's been a positive day. Going to give her the 12am feed so I'll see how she went with the 9pm feed. Hopefully just aswell as she did when Mark & I were there

Here's another piccy for you's:

Another trick krissy is tickle the feet. They really hate that. And I was always told to keep one finger under their chin when they feed so that they have support.

Nah she doesn't mind her feet being tickled or touched. It seems to be soothing for her actually.

Hmmmm I'll give that a try. I'm going to give her the 12am feed shortly so won't hurt to try that. Thanks. Anything just to keep her awake!

Latest update: She's lost weight. Last week she gained it and was on track. Yesterday, she was weighed and has lost 40gms. Can't understand why because she gets a full 70mls at feed times whether it's bottle or tube. Concerned with that. With her dropping weight and the feeding issues, I don't think she'll be home today as planned :(

Krissy, up and downs in weight is usual. One nurse actually told me that it depends on when, lets say, their last nappy changed was. It took Zac two weeks before they even contemplated letting me take him home. Please dont stress too much, she needs you strong ;) There will be good days and low ones for a couple of weeks yet (she is still meant to be inside nice n warm not in this cruel world) so hang in there

Love the piccy of her. Shes a cutey

As to what mothernature said, do not stress they are always up and down. If she has been awake a little more then they tend to burn of a little weight to. So do not stress she is from tough stock.

Thanks guys. A bit more positive today. They've changed her to 4 hourly feeds now and up'd her to 94mls so it's looking good and she looks better. I'm glad she's on 4 hourly now because it's really what Mark and I thought was best. When you think about it, at 3 hourly, by the time she actually fed, which took a good ˝hr to 45 minutes, she really wasn't getting all that much sleep before being woken for the next one. Still needs the tube but is mostly taking her milk via bottle now. I fed her this morning and she only took 9ml in the tube. So fingers crossed that she stays on track because I just want her home already!

Wowww that was quick Krissy

I remember thinking that about the 2 hourly feeds I had to do, I know I didn't get much sleep at all at that time ( had a 2 & 3yr olds to tend as well :O )

She is going well. One day at a time. Cant wait for some more piccys ;)

Nah, it's all good. This is my favourite stage. Not phased what so ever by the crying etc, never have been. I love this stage of their lives more than anything because once they grow up, you can't kiss & cuddle as much as we do when they're this small.

But anyway, like Mark said, she's finally home and we couldn't be happier! She's doing so well, especially with her feeding. It's just so good & such a relief to have her home
