And what was with the GTS only managing a 12.6 in that vid against the E63. The guy was saying they both would run better times in better conditions......what isn't that cool morning on a rubbered drags trip on a dry day not good enough......in a car with massive tyres.....launch control and what appeared to be near perfect traction. I hear 5% tyre slip gives the best acceleration/grip. I found it interesting the comments were full off Holden guys saying why would you pay extra when you can have near the same performance much cheaper......UM isnt that what we ford guys always say about xr6t/GTs/F6s v GTSs. Yet it's ok for them when they have the cheaper car all of a suddenget ya head around that one |

Drive have tested the VF HSV GTS 4 or 5 times now They tested the FG FPV GT Rspec ZERO times - they did put story's up but used Wheel's Test Data Wheels Tested the VF HSV GTS and they got slower times than Drive So if Drive actually did test the FG FPV GT Rspec you would have to assume that they would have been able to get faster times

Edit : Some of you guys need to edit the Wiki page for the R Spec http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FPV_GT_R-spec "Performance 1/4 mile 12.64 @ 189 km/h 100 km/h in 4.52 seconds[5] These times better those set by the rival HSV W427 in 2008,[8] then at the time Australia’s quickest production car." That sounds way to "slow", let's assume a 11.9 for the quarter and say a flat 4 to 100. Then we can all feel better that the R Spec is still the fastest.

I didn't say the FG FPV GT Rspec will be faster than a VF HSV GTS
It shouldn't as it has less power, less cubes, less torque...........

I don't know how many others derive amusement at 16 pages of grown men nitpicking over which 12 second factory car is faster by a poofteenth of a second. Seriously, wouldn't you have either in your driveway? Wasn't that long ago a 14 second car was a factory rocket. Whip out the cheque book and climb into the car of your choice, and care less about what everybody else does

I see it as Passion for the Ford Brand
And a "poofteenth of a second" is how Ford won Bathurst 2013

I do confess, I have a passion for fast cars I can afford. I do not line up at the grid at Bathurst. GTS is ruled out for me by my budget. I can barely afford to get into the FPV camp. But I don't allow my lifetime bias for Ford to dictate my thoughts on the GTS, I don't automatically assume it's inferiority because it wears a different badge. It's an achievement in it's own right and should be recognized as such. And if times were normal it'd be the stimulus for FPV to raise the bar again next year.
For the record, I don't like the look of it, but I respect what it is. And as a 'almost' Miami owner it's existence makes no difference to my satisfaction in my new purchase (if its ever bloody delivered!) (i will add here if anyone takes my comment personally it was very much tongue in cheek, if the thread was 5 pages long and wasn't going around in circles i'd never have posted it!)

I agree with your point about more thorough testing of the R Spec...perhaps if Ford had of taken a more proactive approach to making a vehicle available to the media on more frequent occassions we'd have some more emperical evidence. As it is, they're so close its a case of would you like your rampaging Australian muscle car with or without, (much cheaper), a helping of the latest technology ? |

Having now driven a GTS I can assure you all that at street speeds it is no faster than an RSpec if anything slightly slower in Manual form. You can feel the extra power when the car is moving but you can also feel the extra weight. Whilst it is very quick I would be confident if one pulled up next to me at a set of lights as it not until license losing speeds that the extra power becomes apparent. You can feel the extra horses though, I liked it.

I'm sure many would appreciate a good thorough write-up of all your initial impressions after all there are very few people in your fortunate position to have access to both cars... |

The GTS would run rings around the GT R spec on the track and what was FPV thinking putting stickers on $75000 car makes it looks like a cheap mock up from Footscray.

And that's your opinion about the stripes.....I love them......plenty of faster more expensive cars in the world with stickers on them pal.....porshes...bugattis....reneults....mustangs .....dodge vipers....even seen quite a few SS and HSVs with AFTERMARKET stripes, so go figure. And thanks to those posting times and first hand info about the VFs...the rest of you **** off if your not interested and don't ruin it for everyone else. Why close the thread????? There are still times coming in...and comparos to be done. |

It's sarcasm mate, I was just channeling my inner BHDOGS.
I initially didn't like it but the VF styling is growing on me. Seen a few on the road and they look better in real life than in the pics IMO.
