Hope they are wrong too, but they have been pretty accurate over Summer, not that I been here much myself.

Yep, you would need mid to low 20's to do that, have you any grass there, our place is all dirt but nothing to mow.

Currently 10km north of Wangaratta 34 deg and smelling smoke.

Yikes, there's a bushfire in the Strathbogie Ranges. Possibly evacuations for Boho, Lima south and Badaginnie.
VT under watch and act currently.

Hope everyone around Brisbane has secured everything they have and prepared for the cyclone.
Looks like the NSW north coast will cop a heap of rain shortly.

Mid-twenties and spitting with rain as I dig in a natural mixture of hard yellow clay and bushrock. Better than full sunlight for hard yakka.

Very dry over here. Demand for water carting is exceeding demand. Adelaide Hills & right down south as far as Middleton, from what i'm told.

The vineyards and wineries like to take a lot of the water, just like the Hunter in Summer.

It takes lots of it for it's end users to basically p*ss it up against a wall.

Feeling for those in SE Qld dealing with the incoming cyclone. I have family there.

From reports, no food in supermarkets. People price gouging and profiteering off others misfortune. Airports closed. People preparing for floods in all areas.

Starting to get pretty windy here, up and over the Dividing Range. Can only imagine what it's like down at the Coast and in Brissy. Be safe everyone.

Cav you missed a marketing opportunity, you could have had Mrs Cav shoot a short video with you spruiking the holding ability of the hair gel with the trees bending over in the background.😄

I was only telling a mate the other day, everyone from Central & North Qld must be shaking their heads at the carry-on and palaver over this.

Cyclones roar through with regularity up yonder and nobody gives a sideways glance.... It gets a bit windy in Brisbane and we get the P.M visiting, ceaseless messages on the radio to not get our feet wet. Supermarkets stripped bare by Effwits...(Even in Toowoomba, 130km away and at the top of a hill).

People are a bit silly...

Cheers, Tony

Its the rain and flooding that will be the problem. They go on about the winds too much, its fairly common down here to get 100 km+ winds gusting up to 120-140 km/hr (equivalent to category 1-2 cyclone).
Looks like the cyclone has stopped moving west, starting to track slightly north now.

The difference is people in SE Qld have only seen cyclones on the telly. To actually prepare for one, then go through it and clean up the aftermath is something else again. It's the unknown that does it.

Yeah, I suppose that's right and I can understand people on the Coast and in the lower areas panicking a bit, as it may get pretty wild down there. It's the geese in relatively safe areas carrying on like, well, geese that irks me.

Cheers, Tony

Poor old Lismore looks to be headed for some serious rain again.
Has never recovered from the 2022 flooding with large areas of the town still boarded up and abandoned.

From what I ve seen on Tv Lismore at least is a lot better prepared than 22
But most of them can’t get flood insurance

Lismore is the perennial whipping boy when it comes to floods. Has been forever and seems set to continue the tradition. (Maybe they should pick it up and shift it a few km away?)

We are about to get some rain now, so far we've only had 0.3mm today but a bit of wind. We've got maybe 12 hours before the centre goes past us, and I expect the dam to be full by the end of it.

...and now a simple thread about the weather has been politicized

Dribble your shit somewhere else fella's, facebook, reddit theres plenty of other places if you're that way inclined.

Good luck to everyone in that part of the country theres certainly alot of people in the West thinking wishing well, we even woke to a shower of rain this morning which I thought a little poignant (and well needed)

What I am really fed up with when it comes to the more serious weather events is how many "experts" and storm chasers are so damn sensationalistic with their "advice" that they seem to screw it up so spectacularly.

IMO these sensationalistic scum, the first time they screw it up, need to be restricted, if needs be, with a bullet from being able to communicate ever again.

All the people carrying on like it's a bad thing that the cyclone didn't hit Brisbane

Sure, the media hyped it up a bit, but isn't it better to be over prepared than to not be prepared.

So many can no longer think rationally for themselves.

So many like to point fingers and play the blame game as though predicting the path of a cyclone is easy.

Humans... We're a strange species.
