New to site. I am going to buy a landau soon. I have an option of non matching with new 351 motor and non genuine colour versus a genuine matching numbers with matching colour, the non-matching is cheeper and may prove slightly more reliable? I propose this car to be driven fairly often. thoughts? Cheers

I personally like the idea of cars with Matching Engines, i dont care if its a GT or a Landau or VW , its more about the car history, how its been handled over the years , and i am sure it adds value to a sale.
I looked into purchasing a few Landaus for sale about 6 to 8 months ago, But i ended up with the most original XC Coupe and the possibility it was the last one ever sold. It didnt matter to me about the paint fade, stone chips, Worn Trim etc etc but it was the originality of the car that sold me. |

Hi Scott, from my experience when buying a non matching engine with any vehicle, make sure that it is registered with that specific engine otherwise you may end up paying for an inspection down the track!!

Met a nice gent up at the Berry Springs in the NT a few days ago.
We got talking and he stated he was a member of a Ford Forum ( I guessed it was this one) and goes by MUS 74. as in Muscle 74 Landau which he is doing up. He and his wife are on a road trip around the top part of OZ. He doesn't get on the forum much as the internet isn't readily available on the road. He is retired and he used to make brake lines. Hi all,
thought I should share the pics of my new purchase. Matching numbers, I'm the 3rd owner, very little rust and the owners manual is in the glovebox.

I still regret selling my 75 Landau and wonder if it still out there somewhere being looked after. It was NSW Reg. JQO711 Walnut Glow/ White roof/ Parchment leather which was changed to a dark brown cloth, still in the original pattern. The engine was updated with 600 Holley with vacuum secondaries, nice cam Yella Terra roller rockers and improved cam shaft. It also had a 3 row radiator and 7 blade fan and Mallory twin point ignition. The timing chain was also upgraded to two row unit. I had also made all the taillights work properly with an added internal diffuser to the centre section. The lights were switched in the rear drivers side stow bin so I could look standard, run all the tail lights or all the brake lights as I wished. It was immaculate and had no rust when I sold it in 1984 and had 110,000 kms. It had kidney bean 15x8 rims with the centres body colour. I hope she still lives! Does anyone recognise this car???

G'day.
I have a '74 Grecian Gold (or is it Tropic Gold - the Landau brochure says one thing but the internet says another!) Landau, which I've kept unrestored for many years. Planning on restoring it to its former glory soon - here's a pic. |

Paint Code H if its Tropic Gold.
I know of a factory grecian gold landau that was resprayed the wrong colour many years ago. Does yours have the std 2 individual rear seats or the p5 ltd 3 seats squeezed in? |

Thanks pb.
Paint code is H, so I guess it must be Tropic Gold. Out of interest, what is the paint code for Grecian Gold? As for the rear seats, here's another pic - they are the two individual seats, not the LTD seats crammed in. |
