Probably more worried about final specifications. Power / Torque.

They have mentioned it is wider, and will now accept a pallet between the wheel arches.

From what I recall the Amarok was the only one that could do that previously?

After doing a google search you are correct. The X class could do it too. As far as I can see only the Amarok and new Ranger will be able to fit it, with the X class being no longer available. The current Amarok is the only one available right now that can do it.

“No-one has placed an order with us yet for the bi-turbo (twin turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel),”

Quite telling. And thank you Ford (or VW) for finally listening.

can you honestly say you would take the 2.0 over the 3.0?

id go a spec of model down if i couldn't afford the v6 in what i want.

Ie. v6 xlt instead of a 2.0 wildtrack

You aren't comparing apples though.

Many people chose the 2L over the 3.2L....

No one ever said the 2L was better than a bigger, more powerful engine.

No, they said the 2.0l bi turbo was ample but its enjoyable watching the backflips by those who suggested it now theres a bigger displacement engine that people are falling over themselves to drop a deposit on.

Meanwhile those who said 'No replacement for displacement' and we're heckled for it are quietly whispering to themselves 'I told you so' as the order books fill with 3.0l orders

Those people probably exist, reminds me of my old E38 7 series, the old bloke who brought it brand new spent $180,000 on the car but got the smallest capacity engine in the range, 3.5L V8 instead of the 4.4L V8 or the 5.4L V12.

Imagine being Chris Hemsworth but post op trans.

I'm with you there, give me the povvo spec ute and put plastic deck chairs in there for seats, remove the steering wheel and I'll drive it with a pair of vice grips around the steering shaft but I want the 3L V6 engine in it.

The cylinder count.

It's a mindset thing.

If it got released as a 3L 6cyl with the same specs no one would've cared. Too many people stuck in the past.

Rubbish, has nothing to do with cylinders, its about cubic capacity and its ability to produce horsepower without wringing its neck.

Mitsubishi had a 3.2TD 4cyl and it was considered a great engine for its time and intended use albeit agricultural by todays measure.

Yes I have driven it and it was pretty good for a four cylinder (gearbox shifting aside). The V6 should perform better in my opinion. I've driven Jeep V6 TD. Amarok TD and both were better than the Ford 4 banger (my opinion).

Who here would option the 2.0 (price differences aside) ?

That Jeep diesel is a cracker engine.
The VW didn’t grab my attention.

I would consider the 2.0 if it is considerably cheaper. It drives really well and delivers good economy. It also tows surprisingly well.
It’s still worth considering. But the V6 is going to crush it in sales.

Will be interesting to see if they have to take X amount of bi turbos in the mix. A bit like when the 2.0 came out and everyone wanted it but there were still 3.2's that they had to take.....

Could be some cheap 2.0's that no one wants haha.

Would I be out on a limb saying that even though there is supposedly a V6 Petrol Ecoboost Motor coming also, that if given the choice, more people would be placing a deposit on a V8 Option?
Yes I am flogging a dead horse....

Small engine working hard versus larger engine being lazy, majority of people that are actually going to put these things to work be it on the worksite or towing a heavy van/boat won’t even look at the 2L once the 3L is available with the A10.

Based on future towing and resale I’ll be going 3L.

I don’t recall a manual transmission option for the Ranger 2.0 diesel, has that changed?

Our staff drive automatic Tritons, the lag off the mark is quite surprising
but I don’t think that’s the case with the 2.0 manual in Transit but that’s a single scroll…….
Point is that the Twin Scroll approximates a small and big turbo in one, meaning virtually no lag down low like Triton POS that neatly killed me crossing a busy intersection, I hit the throttle and the thing took what felt like two seconds to get going…..,

That's more throttle delay than lack of twin scroll .....an aftermarket throttle control transforms them....think they're bad try a Colorado

Whatever it is, that lag is a dealbreaker for me, let alone the uncomfortable seating and A pillar proximity.
