Default MMT6 & MTX75 Clutch Interchangable?

Hi

The MMT6 is the 6 Speed manual box bolted up to things like the Mk3 Focus ST Ecoboost. The MTX75 5 speed has been doing duty since the MkI LR Focus (different engine though) all the way up to quite recent models.

Does anyone know if the Clutch from say a Mk3 Focus ST (Ecoboost/MMT6) will work with a Duratec/MTX75 model such as an LS/LT/LW/LV Focus 2.0 Litre 5 speed.

My reasoning for this being possible:

(1) I've seen some mention in FocusFanatics that some are running an ST clutch in their boosted Duratec/MTX75, but the threads don't provide much details and are stale.

(2) The Ecoboost and Duratec blocks are essentially the same bar a few tweaks. The rear main seal looks the same. The bell housing pattern is the same.

(3) The ST clutch plate has the same spline as the input shaft on an MTX75, and the plates are the same diameter.

Has anyone actually done this?

Hi Luke,

The gearboxes in the LS/LT model focii whilst being an MTX75 have a different housing. so if you have a proper Duratech engine then you will need an appropriate MTX75 to go with it.

For example, the MTX75 out of my mk1 will not fit onto the Duratech from a mk2 focus. whilst all the internal parts are more than likely the same the outer casing is different.

If you jump onto the Fiesta Xr4 Facebook page there are a few poeple there that have fitted bigger engines and using different gearboxes that may have more information for you.
