Default Stealing a Modern Car[Tech]

After the recent loss of my job, I've decided to start stealing cars. Can anyone provide me any pointers on how to steal a modern vehicle?

Just kidding.

Perusing ebay, I came across these fake OBD ports that are an alleged 'anti-theft device'. Seems likely they are in-fact genuine diagnostic ports, just with the important bits disconnected, CAN-H, CAN-L, etc etc.

Seems like an interesting idea, also handy for those with a custom tune that don't want a PCM accidentally flashed. However I don't think this anti-theft device goes far enough in preventing the "anti-theft" bit. Why not hook up a genuine(or-fake) diagnostic port, with pins 14,6, 3,11 4,5,1,16 all rigged with a USB-killler-style device that would kill the device this would be thief(or soon-to-be-angry mechanic) is using.

Likely a pointless thing to post, as I'm asssuming most modern car theft is done via obtaining the keys or RF frequency mimicing + some hardware hacking.

Other-than my Scan-Tool-Exploding-OBD-Port idea, what are some practical and realistic ways to prevent car theft?

I’ve sent a message to my mate at VicPol, he’ll help you out.

I think he already has all of your details.

Good luck !!

I always liked James Bond’s anti theft device. It was on an old car, but I’m sure it would work on a modern one.

He has a key that is cut for the car but wont start it, he uses the OBD scanner to code the transponder in the key to start it.

Once he knows the key unlocks the car the transponder is all that is stopping him from driving it away.

We used to do the same thing at the wreckers when we had a car with no keys, just grab a Key with the same transponder ID drop the back of the ignition off and code in the transponder to start it, just hold it to the ignition while you turn the screwdriver.

Pretty sure if you do a google search you will find way more than what is posted on this page on how to steal a car, that's how we learned how to do it in the wrecking yard, anyway the junkies just come in and bash you now for your keys, a lot easier than reading a forum
