Default 2011 Focus LW manual transmission issue

Does anyone know if there is an electronic solenoid or actuator in 2011 Focus 1.6l LW manual gearbox?

Strangely, after going on long drive for about 100kms without shifting gears from topgear, transmission is refusing to shift down. No matter what just won't get into neutral or allow to shift into another gear. Clutch is working fine though. Able to stop with clutch on not stalling the engine. It won't shift down even after stopping. Once engine is turned off it will act normal and continue to behave for another 100kms. After driving for 30kms or so started noticing the shifter not being smooth. Otherwise shifter is as good as new.

Car has done around 54000kms and yes the clutch is absolutely fine. It didn't miss a service either.

Has anyone had similar issues? Wondering what's the best place/dealer to take it to in Canberra. Any suggestions?

Cheers

Hmmm that's a good one. I'm guessing its a Petrol? I'm in Canberra as well. How do the linkages look? It sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging but you said that it works fine when stopped.

My other thought is with the synchros. Can you match the engine revs to the gearbox when trying to change down to get it to mesh into gear?

Cheers
Jason

Yes it's a petrol. Clutch engages and disengages without an issue if not it will stall the engine when stopped in while a gear is engaged.

Linkages are fine. Like I said once engine is restarted it's smooth and no issues. Can't blame synchros either as they would do it all the time and won't reset once engine is restarted.

There is an actuator on the gear shift just under the boot. Usually used for selecting reverse so it could be faulty and causing other issues like you describe.

Go see Dave at John Mcgrath Ford at Beloconnen Branch, he will help you out.

Thanks for the advice. Sounds like a possible cause. Will take it to Dave.
