Hi All,
Has anyone fitted driving lights to their ford focus?

If so how did you do it, what brand and are they any good?

Me and Ratmick both have Hella Rallye 4000 compacts on the front of our LV Focus.

His have a HID conversion in them though.

Thats an old pic of my car, its got one of those light mounts, 11mm holes in the crash bar support, M8 nutserts crimped inside the holes and 2x M8x60mm allen headed bolts securing it to the car.

Doesn't move at all.

Used a light bar similarly fixed to bumper and into frontal crash bar. Had HID 5 inch lights as felt the others were a bit large for the front and would attract stones to break the lenses.

As Damo said Rallye 4000 Compacts with a HID kit (came from eBay like that)..

Cable comes directly out the back of the light through a grommet, instead of the normal exit point.

Ran the cable from the relay to an unused blanking plate:

...a bit of a tight fit but looks ok after a bit of hacking:

I live in a rural area so they're handy for spotting roos and wombats.

No issues with the lights except the HIDs don't always fire first-time (it's a bit like a fluro when they start

) and when they come on for the first time they're orange for 4-5s but ok for that point on.

I have had a quick look at the front of the car. How do you get access to the crash bar support? If you press where the number plate is screwed on there doesn't seem to be anything solid behind it. Do you need to take the front half the car apart to accesss something solid?

there is a gap of about 3-4mm between the bumper and crash bar. When I put the light bar on my focus I put a piece of plywood in between the bumper and crash bar otherwise you distort the bumper when screwing through

My 2013 trend doesn't appear to have anything substantial behind the number plate to bolt a light bar to. I have looked at some youtube vids on how to take the front panels off and there appears to be a whole bunch of plastic formwork which has probably got something to do with the variable shutter system for the radiator.
So I have ordered some osram bulbs from the U.K. and I hope they make a difference to the lights.

That's a question for Big Damo, he fitted the light bar to my car.

Me and Mick's Focus are both LV's, on our car the lower plastic grille is removable, it just clips out and you can see the support bar behind it.

May be the same for LW, I haven't worked on an LW yet unfortunately.

I have put Philips bulbs in my LW trend and LEDs in the foglights and it has made a heap of difference,originals were pretty ordinary

has anyone fitted a roof mounted light bar??
I have been thinking about getting one mounted above the windscreen and then make a moulded cover to help it blend into the cars shape..

Probably illegal to use roof mounted lights unless you are off a public road.

With the amount of 4x4s with blind me lights on their roof around here I'd like to think they wouldn't bother me too much.. lots of country highway driving.. just not that keen on the little bar mounted above the license plate..

Might do more research before I attempt it.

Don't see much fog up here, but it does get dark at night and I get frightened
