Personally, I'm looking at pre-70's, but that's just me.
there was a Red XD Van with a 351 on one of those facebook sites for $1750 on the weekend, looked like bloody good buying even if just as a donor car

Thats kind of how I feel. My brother has a vh commodore (the last of the real commodores, since then they lost their way to an extent, ford lost it in the 80s too, but whatever) 107 thousand on it when he got it in 2000, pulled it to bits back then. Still in bits, but looking past the slight surface rust on the roof, with the 253 out and the carbied 304 (not 308, it's a black motor) in with the mild parts on it, if it ever gets finished it should be a fun little car. Cost $1000 back in the day from a mechanic who held it because the owner couldn't pay the repairs, and when it was taken back for a blue slip the traumatic split a line and died, has been parked ever since

Always gotta love the really subtle attempts at emotional blackmail.
"I don't really want to sell it BUT"
followed up with the classic "if it doesn't sell I will..."

Pretty much when I read either signature line, I tune out.
If you don't want to sell something, then don't. I'm certainly not interested in begging you to sell something. Really just signals that you're going to be a prat, awkward to deal with, and I can certainly do without the aggravation.

As for the "if it doesn't sell" palava, what exactly is that even meant to convey?

Actually it is someone who knows what they are doing, not dreamers.

absolutely.....had a feller do pretty much exactly what I described, had to build most of the parts himself and have a lot of parts manufactured.....a lot of clever people around.

patience of a saint.
