To the people of Mildura

Reading through the Newspaper this morning I am numb.

A mindless tragedy has befallen one of the truly nicest and genuine communities in Australia.

How the people of Mildura and the greater Sunraysia must feel right now is unimaginable.

Six young lives taken, many others placed in serious danger, and all lives in the City of Mildura changed forever.

Never been to Mildura?
It’s an embarrassment of riches.

Beautiful Murray River lazily floating by.

Rich, lush green lawn in the front yards as rainbows shine through the sprinkler hazes.

Warm, inviting sunshine.

Crystal blue skies.

Deep green leaves in the vineyards.

But even with those incredible aesthetics, Mildura’s beauty is not its landscape but it’s people.

Warm, friendly, trusting people.

People happy to show you their way of life, happy to invite you into their lifestyles.

People who invite you into their homes.

People who see no reason to doubt your intentions.

People who support your efforts to involve their town.

Open people. Caring. Laid back.

Friendly.

Good people.

A tragedy like this will rip right into the soft big heart of Mildura.

But I do know this.

What I know of the people of the Sunraysia, is that they care about people and they care deeply for their own.

Mildura will open up her arms, and embrace its heartbroken.

It may not be for some time, but people will smile again.

The fabric of Mildura is her people.

Their love, their courage and their friendliness will again come to the fore.

I wish there was something that I, that we all, could do to help.

I guess all there is to say is that we care.

And if we can, we’ll help.

If thoughts could only help some more…

As a father with two teenage kids, this sort of story makes my blood run cold. My heart felt condolences to the freinds and families of the innocent lives that have been snatched away from them. Lets hope that true justice runs its course!! God bless them.

Really sorry mate.

The worst death that can possibly be bestowed upon anyone. What makes this rediculously hard is the circumstances in which they died in.

These poor kids must have been mowed down within tenths of a second barely enough time to blink let alone react to a ballistic EB wagon attack.

The hopelessness of their plight is what gets at me most. May they rest in peace.
