Hi
I have a 1994 Laser and currently get about 9.7litres per 100km. It used to be 8 litres per 100km. Exactly the same way to work each day and it has steadily dropped over the 30 000 ks I have done. Could not changing plugs account for the fuel consumption increase???? What should I get??? The cars done 230 000km. thanks |

If they are dirty there could be an increase, but you need to take into account a lot more than Plugs, ... Dirty Fuel filter, dirty injectors/carby, dirty throttle body, dirty air filter, loose connectors on air and or fuel pipes all the way back to incorrect tyre pressures..! HTH

Sorry for not getting back sooner,
Thanks for those items. I will change the plugs and air filter!! Maybe clean up the dizzy and put a timing light on it too. Also I found on line I should get about 9litres per 100km city cycle. Mine has gotten a bit worse but maybe never getting as much as I thought. I think I could find the 0.7Litres per 100 in what you have suggested. The 2.2 Camry my wife has is hell thirsty!!!!! Thanks. When I "fix" it I will re post mileage so people can see what kind of improvement is possible. |

Took the laser camping last week which cleared the old girl's cobwebs out. Seems to be much more responsive off the mark around town now.
