Ford Launches Face-Lifted Figo in India

Ford Motor Co.’s India unit today unveiled its New Figo, a revised version of a subcompact that has been on the market in India for a couple of years.
The move amounts to what industry insiders call a facelift, aimed at amaking the car more stylish to attract a wider range of customers.

One of the Figo’s main selling points previously was its low price, but some critics considered its design dated. On the new model Ford redesigned
the grille and headlights to give the car a sportier, more aggressive “face,” added flashy new colors and reworked the engine to give snappier acceleration.

Ford said it also added new weather stripping on doors to cut noise and improved interior materials and added more supportive seats to make the cabin more comfortable.

The changes, and the speed with which they were implemented reflect rapidly rising standards and expectations among car buyers in India. Customers
who used to settle for noisy, sparingly equipped cars increasingly are coming to expect higher quality and more satisfying performance.

“The Ford Figo is a big game-changer for us and has won the trust of customers as a reliable, substantial vehicle with outstanding value. With the addition of all
new exciting features in the New Figo, we believe our customers will truly find that change is a wonderful thing,” said Michael Boneham, president and managing director of Ford India.

Or the tyres arent wide enough.... etc etc.
Hope not though. Wonder what it would sell like here.

Ive never really looked at what Ford in other countries produce besides Europe/USA. I best have a look to see what they offer.

Sells in South Africa for about $13,000 and prices for cars are similar to here. Fits in with the new VW and other 'mini' cars coming in at the 13k mark. Could slot into the market quite comfortably I would think.

Also does come in a 1.4 TDCI. Wouldn't be to bad for here.

And so FoA does secure it's reputation as a vital integrated part of the Ford empire, designing world class cars for Ford's portfolio.

Would like to see it take on the Alto and other subbies here in Aus.

I recall that Ford did mention it was going to bring Figo to Oz at some point?

They have looked at it for Australia to take on the Micra, Barina Spark etc. So it may make it here one day, if they can get the price right.

How's quality though? It is a cheap car. But with that cheap labour... hopefully it's well appointed

The greater issue would be crash safety, and there do not appear to be any available ratings for this car.

Being based on the previous Fiesta you'd expect it to be at least a 4 star car at a minimum, and could possibly have been bought up to 5 star?

You could be right. I see ANCAP rated it as 4 star.

Was it really 4 star? Wow. That was/is a handsome small car... although quite dated internally.
