Why did they need to change it here, when British troops suffered at the hands of the Japanese just as badly as our troops did, probably in even greater numbers?

No idea brah, that was just how ***** rolled.

Could be that we were more sensitive to the issue being in the same region the atrocities were committed etc whereas Britain was much more removed and suffered just as much if not worse at the hands of the Nazis.

Starion was supposedly Japlish for Stallion, but i've read somewhere that it was probably a myth.

Cool Re: Holden's SS badge registered in US

Smidy
tell me about Henrys involvement in the war
if you are trying to say that He prospered by it well yes
every industry seemed to make money for whatever side they worked
also GM owned Opel and what Ive read is Opel were sending
GM USA royalties for each Opel truck they made
another thing I read was that Bayer owned the recipe (trade wise)
for TNT and wrote to the UK govt and told them
to stop using our recipe in your bombs
and I believe they had to invent a new explosive
very strange
and now for the last bit of history Swallow side cars
made motorbike side cars and also a sports car
called the SS Jaguar
but as there was a war going on and the SS
reminded people of Nazis they change the name
of their car to
you guessed it
Jaguar SS
thats what I recall from old books

As you said, Swallow Sidecars were badged as SS, but it was after the war had ended that they decided to change their name to Jaguar to avoid the Nazi conitations of SS. They weren't making cars during the war.

Henry Ford had no role in the war except he turned his factories over to the US government for war production, but earlier in the piece before the US became involved Henry corresponded with Hitler telling him how much he admired him, but I guess that was before he would have known what he was really up to. Although some have suggested Henry Ford was an anti-semite so maybe he did approve.

Henry Ford had devoloped anti-semtaic veiws, these were published as "the Jewish consipracy"

Hitler apparently was a fan of Henry ford because of this...

Henry was accused of being a Nazi sympatiser as he allowed Germany to continue building Ford trucks even whilst the war was in full swing. I think there may have even been some controversial statements he made about Jews but I can't say for sure.
