Morning I bought a new focus last week and I noticed it seems to be left unfinished around the rear wheel inside guards. I have made an appointment for Ford to have a look but in the mean time I was after any one who owns one to have a look and let me know what their rear guards look like. Attached a couple of picture

Yeah looks as though its unfinished. If it wasnt pelting down with rain i'd check mine for you. I went for the mud guards so it may be covered anyway. Unless someone else beats me to it, ill have a look when the rain stops.

Standard euro ford textile inner guard liners used to cut down road noise - Mondeo range has the same thing.

Perhaps in the morning! The town is being evacuated because of flood waters! The focus is safe though.

thanks for the responses, so it seems its standard. Its strange though as the front guards have a black plastic appearance (also it looks finished) whereas the rear's don't, I would have thought it would be the same. My concern is this material will get wet and rot. Also there is no structure and feels flimsy.

It's a flocking like material embeded into a plastic backing, does seem very light but it serves no structual purpose; I believe Ford introduced it to absorb both stone strike and resonant road noise transference into the rear area of the passenger cabin.
The front inner guard liners are your standard smooth plastic jobbies because they do not adjoin the cabin space and to my knowledge are there mainly to stop buildup of crap in the inner guard recesses and reverse stone dents in the front guards.

How does the 1.6L go in the Car??

I no some people at work interested in buying one but are worried about the engine size.

I test drove the 1.6 and ended up getting the 2.0, i am glad we went the bigger engine. 2.0 is great, cruises nicely and doesnt lack power. I will admit the 1.6 was an auto and i think that ruins the drive.

I think it drives good , although my last car was a 1.6 as well so Im used to driving a smaller engine. Mine is a manual too.

Auto was rubbish and the last thing i want is 'powershift' on a 1.6, i didnt drive the manual but i imagined it would be much better.

My wp fiesta had the same stuff it seems to last very well. My WS fiesta also has the same stuff and is lasting very well

I am guessing there is a fair weight difference between the fiesta and focus though.

Mine is 1.6 auto. It is a bit lack of power to pick up under full load. But city drive with 1 to 2 passenger is ok. For a nearly 5k difference to Trend, I opt for the 1.6. I can switch to sport manual whenever I want to stay in lower gear longer for power.

Mine is 1.6 auto too. I choose 1.6 over the 2.0 because my daily commute is city driving peak hour bumper to bumper. I reckon when idling in traffic 1.6 is better than 2.0. I have another V6 Magna anyways for weekend and highway driving.
I think the 1.6 is okay using the recommended 95 RON unleaded.
