I believe that there is a significant adverse safety effect regarding mobile speed cameras that is often missed.

When a vigilant driver spots a mobile speed camera on the side of the road, there is a good chance that they will, while hurtling along at a not insignificant speed, pick up their mobile and call their friends/siblings/etc. to notify them of the camera. This distracts them from their surroundings for a considerable amount of time. I know of many family members who do this. You may say "What about Bluetooth?" The reality is that most drivers (especially older drivers) don't know how to use any of that technology and simply ignore it (I know my mother does so), and you can't forget about the masses of people without this technology.

drivers using their phone illegaly isn't the fault of the camera it is the fault of the driver doing it. there is no excuse blutooth headsets are cheap and age is no barrier as they are simple to use . I'm not exactly young and I have a hard wired kit in my car and use a headset in work vehicles, with voice dialing the phone never leaves my pocket or cradle
