Default installing cam syncronizer

Hey guys whats the best way to go about swapping my cam syncronizer just got my new one from the states.

Do I have to put the engine to TDC or can I get away without it any help would be greatly appreciated.

Follow Dave's link - it's what I used when i did mine (all 3 times!!! - long story)

Easy - take the top off the cam synchroniser, and then turn the crank until the notch sits at the front and the tool/cap thing fits on nicely - it's the only position it will fit, and for it to fit, it must be at TDC. That's the way I did mine (I turned my crank over with the rocker cover off first time, and noticed that the synchronsier returns to this position only at TDC on cyl #1).
