So I have been talking with mates and the topic of classic cars came up.
For instance, XA, XB and XC coups could be had for buckleys going back 10 - 15 years ago, now you can't even buy a shell for less thank $10K. What does everyone think the next "Classic" car will be? |

Problem is (correct me if im wrong) is that current cars are too difficult to work on.... especially in terms of engine management and its little box of tricks.
How long will a computer last without failing? You can pull a engine out of a XB in 30mins (if you really tried), whereas how long would it take in a BA or XT? What about the rear end of an IRS? Was told it takes all day to pull it out if you have to change bushes etc... What about aftermarket wise? Panels etc....

I think the early XR6/8's (EB-EL)will become valuble in a decade or two. I think alot will be restored as old X-series cars fade away into history.

I reckon the B series was a huge leap forward for Ford, it will come from one of those variants..... 40th GT for me.

I am doubtful they will kill the nameplate though, they'll just stick it on to whatever imported barge takes it's place.

Holden Monaro - particularly HSV variants.
T series AU's - particularly series 3 with the last of the windsors(strokers). EF and EL Tickfords Something out of left field - hemi powered Chrysler 300C's?? I think in 30 years time they will draw a renewed hot rodding crowd - maybe see some crazy 2 door convertibles or chopped roof's or something similar?

My guess would be:
EB GT, EL GT, EL XR8, BA GT, BF series 2 GT with the GT 40th being the most desirable B series. But I think the EB GT and EL XR8 is well on its way the others will have to wait a while yet |

There won't be because they'll be all too common.
The classics of today are classics because nobody thought they would be worth something 30+ years on and seeing them isn't an everyday occurance for the average joe. Alot of people these days think that any car from the mid 90's onwards with the words "GT" on it are everyones desire and "must have" vehicle as it's going to be a classic one day without a doubt. The problem with this is that they may turn out to be wrong if everyones keeping these cars or storing them away. They won't be worth anything in 10 - 15 years from now because when they go to sell there EL or BA GT for eg hoping to make a bundle, they'll have 20 more ads next to theres advertising the same thing Just my 2c.. It would have to be something that was built in low numbers. Personally I think ED XR8 Sprints and T3 TE/TS50's will be the 'modern' muslce Fords to gain value at some point, but can't ever see them commanding crazy HO kind of prices. XR8 Sprints because they were effectively a bare bone ED GT with goodies standard XR8's didn't get, and T3's because they got that sweet stroked and handbuilt windsor.

And as far as taking all day to pull out an IRS, you need to backhand whoever told you that. 12 bolts, tail-shaft and the hand brake cable can have it on your garage floor in just over an hour. With the right tools of course!

Keeping on topic though, I think:
The ED XR8 Sprint The T3 T-series Any V2 Monaro Any HSV GTS (particularly the ones with the Harrop or Callaway donk) Any F6 (maybe XR6 turbos may become collectible after the I6 gets killed but it wont be a classic) And the FGII FPV V8's. I say this because the FGII should bring the 'total package' to the table to complement the ripper V8 - this may not happen again, especially in the post-2015 world And the kicker: Falcon utes, particularly V8 and turbo I6 variants. I am told that regardless of which way Ford goes with the Falcon after 2015, the Falcon ute is a goner.

ok.. apologies DJM83, i forgot to leave my originality at the door when I entered the forums today.
My original thought was early E series, but seeing as this is an invalid and pointless idea, I'l just follow the herd and say perhaps the big V8 XD/XE.
