Default Suggestions please

I've got a couple of, what I would like to think are rare, Metallica picture records (ride the lightning and master of puppets) I also have the Until it sleeps single on record.
Anyone know what these would be worth or where I could get them valued?
I tried out ebay but couldnt find either of these.

Cheers.

Hang onto them until Metallica do what they should have when Jason Newsted left and call it quits. Then they'll be worth even more $$$ than they are now.

If you really want to get rid of them, there is a forum like this one on the Metallica site, Im sure you could find a buyer in there.

I would keep the records because they will be worth something someday.

I have, was a very "interesting" movie, got it on DVD now, which if you're interested, is even better then the original, because of all the extras on the DVDs, such as the commentary from the band members, the out-takes, etc.

Before watching it I didn't think I could have any less respect for Lars then I did. I was proven wrong, I now think even less of him then I did before watching the movie, which I didn't think was possible. However, I now have much more respect for Kirk then I did previously.

Anyway...

MADXF, got any pictures of these items? I'd make you an offer if I was in a position to be able to make a respectable offer for them.

BTW, thanks for the inspiration, I was trying to work out what to listen to, now I'm listening to 'old school' Metallica

Yeah I have the DVD too.

Funny what you say about Lars - i couldnt stand the guy but after watching SKOM he is actually probably the one I sympathise with most. James is just a self absorbed moron (but his wife is quite noice! ;)), and Kirk's a bit of a Nancy Boy.

Interesting, personally I think out of the lot of them Lars would win the "self absorbed moron (with a very limited vocabularly)" award, and James seems (to me at least) to be a more complex character then he wants to let the world see - Lars seems to be quite a negative influence on him, because when Lars is around, James seems to become a more negative person, example being when James is talking about Jason leaving without Lars being around, you get the impression James didn't want him to leave, but then when Lars is around, both James and Lars are quick to put the boot into Jason.

I agree about Kirk, he does seem to be a bit of a nancy boy, but he's also obviously quite an intelligent man, and the only one who didn't rip into Jason and seems to have respect for Jason. He really needs to learn to stand up for himself I think, and stop letting James and Lars run the show.

back2thefutura, I know you're a big fan of Jason, what is he up to since that movie was made?

MADXF, I used to know a few places that specialised in that sort of thing, next time I go to that part of town I'll see if they're still there and if so, have a chat with the owners about this for you.

You can normally find these vinyl's in records stores for not that much money. I'd say there'd probably be plenty of them around too.

I've even seen the Creeping Death(sure it's that one) 12" available for pretty cheap. I buy 12"'s all the time from ebay. Do a search on there and check it out.

Despite what everyone says Metallica has done awesome and i'd love for them to keep it going!!! From Kill em All and ride to garage inc and st.anger all is good to me.....

Their Reload Tour UnF&^in believable and their St.Anger tour.
As for the movie SKOM my heart goes out to Kirk, such an awesome guitarist and is very reserved.....
Lars and James have always had tension between them since M.O.P. but now has been flamed by Newsted leaving the band and them trying to release an album while looking for a bassist.....
my 2 cents anyway
MADXF
Keep those records as one day when Metallica retires they will be worth a small fortune!

I recommend you rip them to MP3 and make them available for fan download.

Could also try Utopia records or the like. They specialise in this type of rare stuff (as well as selling the usual stuff)& often sell objects for customers on a commision type basis. If nothing else they 'should' be able to at least give you an idea of what your stuff is worth.

Thanks for all the tips guys.

Load and ReLoad were good ablums, had some great tracks (wasting my hate and house jack built are fav's), and I enjoy them all. That said my favourite solo is off the black album...struggle...awesome to watch him play that....BASTARD!

Anyway, here's a few shots of the vinyl for those that want to see....

This one is not as special as the rest, I've seen a few on ebay for around US$17

My favourite cover, I had the glow-in-the-dark T-shirt with the guy on the chair

See if you can find the mistake on this one...its a bit blurry but you SHOULD be able to pick it out

Thanks for putting the pics up, they look great.

While we're talking Metallica, anybody know where I could get a long sleeve white "...And Justice For All" top from? I've been after one for years, but can't find one anywhere.

There was a record shop in Challis Arcade in Martin Place, Sydney where I used to get all my Metallica gear from called Utopia. If there are still going, I am sure they could give you an idea, but I dont think they are too rare as I have them as well, and never thought that they have any worth.

Gaslight used to be good for that sort of information, now they're all techno and cr@p.

There is one place that comes to mind and that is at South Melbourne market, the guy in there buys rare stuff, he might be able to give you a rough idea of their value. If not I'd try some shops around the CBD and see if you can get some figures. I wouldn't be playing them either, put them away and keep them.

Hrmm this thread reminded me that I have 4 Iron Maiden picture discs that a friend I've lost contact with has, must hunt them down.

Yeah I can see that, but in the part where they have their big bustup at the studio, Lars just says something like "I just want to play music and not have all of this s**t to deal with" etc and it makes sense.

Still with Voivod, but their guitarist died a few weeks ago from advanced colon cancer, so Im not sure what they'll do now. They do have a new album coming in the early part of next year though.

That's a good point, have they been played much or at all?

Call me old fashioned if you want, but there is nothing to match the sound of a record being played for the very first time IMO.

back2thefutura, thanks for the update about Jason, I've had a lot of respect for him since I saw one of the "Year and a half in the life of Metallica" videos, where he says to the camera "I've got plans for those millions, and it ain't for f#@king sandwitches", in that scene alone he showed a level of maturity that many other people lack. Sad to hear about the guitarist suffering from and dying from advanced colon cancer, that would have to be in the top 10 worst ways to go.

I agree with what you said about Lars making sense when he said he just wants to play music, however to me it doesn't make up for his attitude at other points in history and in the movie, like where it appears he is doing his best to get a reaction out of James.

Metallica are one of those bands it's so easy to play the "what if" game - what if they hadn't kicked out Dave Mustaine, what if Cliff hadn't died, what if Jason hadn't left, etc. As good as Jason was/is, I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes that Cliff was still around.
