Looks like CarAdvice may be right on the money with their first set of CGIs; I was just cruising though Autoblog and pics of the new Caprice detective pack have hit the net and they show the new lower front bar (!) which matches exactly with the VEII Berlina front bar that CarAdvice rendered...

edit...

& Youseff, I remember back a year or two ago various media outlets stated that Holden was working on making the A pillar thinner by using higher strength materials, I guess being broke must have prevented its completion.

It's interesting how they can take the statesman and make it look like an omega..

It should be about the time where the next major Commodore design would be finalised and the models between would be building up in design to get the general public used to it... it's why the VY/VZ are so different to the VE... but with GM's money problems there's probably nothing to design towards :(

*so different to the VY/VX (not VE) in headlight, bumper, tail light and boot design

Courtesy of fordfalcongt on FAF.

E3 Grange is exactly how JPFS1 described it all that time ago.
The lower apron doesn't look right. He was right about that, too.

And Omega is dead on what "the stylist" rendered.

i allways said the front end on the VE looked like a triton or similar ute made into a sedan. the front end was too high... lights too hight, grill too high, it was all just WRONG.

this new update has the ve looking almost right. took them a while!

They ruined the Grange. The original VE Grange was a good looker, a classy machine. The one in the pic above is horrid, amateur hour in the styling dept. at HSV.

WTF have they done to the Grange!? Way to ruin a already sexy car. I prefer the Grille on the current Omega too, this new one is too plain.

That omega looks very much like the epica. That grange is just hideous but from what we seen in the e2 it was probably to be expected eventually. People will still buy them in droves though.

That has to be one of the worst factory body kits I have ever seen. What is HSV thinking, the S1 Grange wasn't that bad looking.

I can feel my eyes burning.

It looks very bulky up front. Very front heavy. Reminds me of a celica with the big fibreglass front bar. The front on that grange looks like an after thought. It doesn't suit or belong.

Can't say I've ever really liked WM Granges, even the E1s. IMO the WL was the last classy Grange that looked simple, but nice without being too overdone.

Thanks, now my eyes have AIDS.

Seriously, what a stupid looking front bar. Whoever in the HSV design studio thought that would be 'cool' or 'trick' or 'tyte' needs to be taken out the back of the stamping plant and bashed.

The Grange is an interesting thing, it's not restrained and as classy as I thought it could be, but then again I don't think it's horrifically bad either.

The Omega update on the other hand is something that only trainspotters could ever pick out.

It looks like a large, ugly, bottom feeding fish. Terribe design on the front of the Grange
