Thank you for your help, the new cable has already been sent i have to go pick it up this afternoon. A guy at jaycar checked out the cable for me and he believed there may have been a short and when he connected it up to a power supply it almost welded the cable to the battery terminal. Not sure how much he knows as i was just going by his word and he may have screwed up and broke it even more which might be problematic to finding out what was wrong with it in the first place.
Anyway i will still send it back, and I have a friend who wants me to order him a cable as well, a bonus booster would still be nice
