Default Who said Fords Build quality was woeful...

I think this proves that not having cars built by Daewoo, may lead to better things....hehehe

sourced from autoblog.com

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/04/07/f...ota-and-honda/

We've already seen GM get slammed for having their cars built in Korea or wherever else they're made....."turkey list" ie worst cars built, GM and Chrysler made up the whole top ten....lol.

Good on ya Ford keep building cars for drivers not cost effective death traps.

Even jumping in a new Daewoo feels like your sitting in a 10 year old falcon or something

I never said it, But after driving a Falcon for 19 years, I believe the (interior) build quality is low. But for the price you pay, Geeze its a bloody good car!

It's only the quality of the latest stuff that dissapoints me. The quality of my old EF interior is better than my BA IMO. But it's a lot of car for the money so something has to give in order to keep the price low.

Good on ya Ford for not letting your quality drop like the other "high quality" brands.

I'm a little lost with this one. The source of the article is Ford and Ford commissioned RDA for the report, but I can't see a link to the comparo where it mentions the Daewoo?

Isn't JD Power the bible when it comes to topics like this?

Is the article referring to NA's Fords or our Fords? Somehow I think there would be a difference.

But that puts Korean cars ahead of Holden and Ford. How can that be? Isn't the Holden Viva a Daewoo?

it is an american site so i suppose it may be FoMoCo, not Aus...just Ford in general maybe...

I did in a couple of posts about my GT - the Australian built Falcon GT. Maybe I would have felt different if it had been an American Mustang or other US built car - but it wasn't, so I guess that article is irrelevant.

So on a scale of 1000 we have a spread of less than 50, thats a pretty good result.

They are all sitting plum on the 3/4 mark. Really makes you think there isn't that much difference between all the manufacturers

The trouble with satisfaction ratings is that it is very subjective and really based on consumer expectation. It might well be that holden and ford purchasers expect more than what can be delivered, while a Merc buyer is primarily concerned with image, which is easily garnered by handing a cheque over.

Comparative analysis between a Merc owner and a Falcon owner may in fact reveal a very small locus, because neither typical owner rarely ventures into the other's purchasing territory and thereby cannot make an objective comparison. The same could be said for blue blooded ford owners and red blooded holden owners.

If you are a Merc/Volvo/BMW owner you are hardly likely to tell everyone how the dash vinyl cracks, the seat pleather cracks, the paint fades etc, but ask one of those upholstery doctors and he'll soon tell you which cars are suited to our climate and which ones aren't.

Ford PR called. They want to know when you can start.

Yep. Welcome to the real world.

Sorry to say it, but the build quality of Australian cars is so bad that the Koreans trounce us.

Me, I wouldn't buy a Korean car. They're too small for me, I don't like their dynamics, and I don't like their performance. They are probably not very good to crash in, either.

But that being said, I'm not all surprised to find out they are screwed together better than a Falcon. The Koreans are efficient buggers. They'll be up their with the Japanese sooner than you think.

By way of example, a Hyundai Santa Fe might not be your first choice for an SUV, but they sure as hell aren't rusty straight off the showroom floor.

In what other industry is 1.3 faults, per sale, within 3 months of sale a good metric to boast about? It doesn't prove that anyone is good - just that some are worse than others.

In the last 10 years our household has had 7 new fords grace the driveway, so I think I'm qualified to judge.

AU Forte
AU Fairmont
AU TS50
BA Falcon
BF Falcon
BA Ute
SY Territory AWD Ghia

Only one, the BF sedan has been without fault. How I would have described them all as good or very good cars. Never a major fault and never been stranded by them.

My work car is now a VE SSV, it came with a split washer bottle and a vibration at 105kmh. Only one of which they have fixed. So don't kid yourself that the others are are perfect.
