Default XR8 Boss decision?

OK guys well basically mate of mine has a BF XR8 Boss 06 model with 32,000 khs on the odometer. It was in a huge prang before and has been repaired....not the best of repairs he even admits it and apparently its needs "police numbers" as the number of the shazi or something im not to sure about these sort of things is gone. It needs a real good service , wheel alignment and one of the bars and where the petrol hole is the leaver needs to be resprayed to.

Basically he will take 10k for it and i know i will have to spend money on it to get it roadworthy etc but do you fellas think it is worth it?

btw its a utility.

by having "police numbers" aswell it will be extremely hard to sell at a later date as they will know its been in a huge hit.

The motor and drivetrain alone would be worth more than $10k with so few kms....so yes it sounds like a good buy.

Be careful, you may end up buying a $10k vehicle that cant be road registered.
If it was a repairable write off then it can be issued a new VIN if it was damaged in the crash. If it was a Statutory write off it cant be re-registered, no matter how extensive and good the repair was.
They'll need to know the previous VIN beforehand, if he doesnt have it walk away.

Even if it can't be registered it is a great buy. You'd get a fair whack more for it parting it out.

Get the old VIN and do a REVs check.

Somethings up if it needs police number's, they usually re-register it with it's original VIN. Iv'e bought a few damaged cars & had them repaired and have never had to get police number's. Sounds like it's going to be a parts car.

Pm sent im intrested in it if you arn't, auto or manual ?.

Well given you'd be likely driving a car with "police numbers" and a dodgy repair, they'd probably be doing you a favour taking the car. But yes you will get spanked well and truly for it.

The compliance plates are actually stickers now days on the falcons, they will not re issue new stickers if the A pillar is damaged and needs to be replaced. If you buy the car it's going to be very very hard to sell.

Not to sure if they can take the car but it's loss of licence, mate just got done and lost it for 6 months.

buy it and strip it for parts, you could well double your money, the rims and stuff like that add up quickly when you sell the parts out, the motor and gearbox combo will be worth a bit with low km's. Then use the profits to buy an XR6 that you can actually drive legally.

Buy it for sure, and just sell the parts... you'll make more money doing that, then reselling it registered specially if you have police number. Police numbers will turn alot of future buyers off, because they will know it was in a serious/writeable crash..
