Can anyone help me with a query on the Fiesta?
Is it true that the Fiesta LX model revs lower than the Zetec or XR4?

How many revs at say 100km/h on each model, the gear ratio figures are as follows, if I'm thinking correctly and reading these figures right the LX model will rev lower at highway speeds and the XR4 will rev the highest.......or is it the other way around?

5th Gear Ratios

LX: 0.76
Zetec: 0.88
XR4: 0.88

Final Drive Ratios

LX: 4.25
Zetec: 4.06
XR4: 3.82

With those figures the zetec will have a higher RPM at any given speed followed by the XR-4 then the LX slightly lower again..

From memory of posts on here, the WQ Zetec sits on 3500RPM (approx) @100kph where as the the WQ LX (and my WP Zetec) sits on 3000RPM @ 100KPH (manual versions of both)

There are a few gear ratio/ speed calculators avalible online if you wanted to work it out 100%, but you'll need to know the dolling diameter of the tyres too :

100kmh = 100000mh

Wheel circ =1.82 m*

100000/1.82m = 54945revs per hour/60min = 915.75 rpm at the wheels at 100kmh

915.75 * diff ratio * gear ratio =

LX = 2957rpm

XR4 = 3078rpm

Zetec = 3271rpm

* Based on my own wheels, not taking into account tyre growth with rpm etc.

Any questions?
