Default 4 to v8

Hi guys i know this question has probably been asked a million times but here goes anyway.
Im interested in getting a hold of a 70's capri and putting an a 302 windsor. Im wondering what is involved in the swap. Is there a lot of engineering involved? I dont want an auto either i want to put a manual gearbox. Im a bit new to windsors, (im a clevland man) so what gearboxes work well single rails? toploader? maybe even a celica or supra 5 speed if im financial enough. Any info would be greatly appreciated

Make sure you get an engineer lined up first, to get it approved. It should be straightforward, but they are clamping down on things more these days.

It's good to see your putting in a Ford racing engine.
So your getting the 5.0L 302-340Hp GT-40 aluminum head. The Boss is back...lol
That's 224KW at the engine, that'll show XR owners whos Boss...hahaha.
What state do you live in?

is it just as easy to put in a clevo? I honestly have no idea what is involved i just know that it has to have a v8. What is a conversion kit worth? Is it something that can be done in a the shed at home?

It is relatively easy if you have a few basic tools at home. Drills, engine crane ect. You can get conversion from a few places. I got mine from a bloke called Bob Pinell. He's in QLD. Didnt cost much to post to perth so im sure youl be ok. Thats if he still does conversion stuff. You can buy a sump and pick up from most sump manufacturers. Change the brake booster. Thats about it, apart from brakes ect.
Clevo's fit nicely. 302 weezers look tiny in the capri engine bay!
Cheers

Been there, done that too. I used the Castlemaine kit and as a source for everything including brakes. Fairly straightforward swap except if you want decent extractors you will have to get them custom made, or if you have the skills knock them up yourself as I did

Oh, and if you do go Clevo, don't skimp on the radiator, they do require a bit more in that department.

Why go 302 if you can go 351
