Default Noise From Under the Bonnet

Yesterday I was sitting at a set of lights, with the radio down low, and i could hear this noise..no joke, it sounded like there was a rooster under the bonnet...only a faint noise but it made me worry. Took the car to my bf and he booked it in for a service for today. Ended up needing a new air filter and I was also told they'd had a Fiesta in not long ago that had the same prob..wasnt too bad i thought..
Then my bf rings me and tells me the service guys said i'll need a new water pump soon..asked him how much that would be and he said $500-$600...is he pulling my leg??? Thats ridiculous

Anyone else had probs like this? Needed new air filter/water pump??

I went in for the 45000 service with some under bonnet noises which was just un lubricated belts/pulleys. Also said my water pump is on its way out so, i will have to look in to it shortly.

Water pumps do tend to cost about 500-600 to fix so he isn't pulling your leg

Sounds really pricey, is there anyway for it to be cheaper? Thankfully my warranty covers me for 5 years.

Has anyone questioned how these service guys are predicting that your water pump will need replacing "soon"? Sounds very suss to me?

Thats impossible. The Fiesta wasn't sold until April

But you may have just run out of warranty. Should give the dealer a call.

I would happily trust him to drive my car

if you can prove that the problem didnt occur/begin to occur while out of warranty then you can claim to get it fixed under warranty.

so if you can prove the this problem didnt occor over night then you should be able to get it done under warranty.

Also if the car was serviced as it shuld have been by the manual then there should ideally be no reason for this to happen. try talking to the service department about it. they are normally helpful.
