Default 4WD mishap

this afternoon while minding my own business at red traffic lights a guy (or girl) came up beside my car to do a hasty right hand turned and hit my drivers side mirror leaving a small but annoying, pain in the a$$ scratch thats gonna cost about $80 bucks to fix. tried to catch up to them but it was too late by time the light had changed
very very ****ed off :

its the driver that chooses to drive a vehicle that is designed for off road on city streets..is it not

not to mention all the people that drive a 4WD out there dont actuly know "how big" there "4WD" is, and things like the first post by XR-ENVI happen and much worse..

also its the driver that chooses to park there 4wd on or very close to an intersection and cause crashes simply coz other road users cant see through them.

then there are all the 4wd related crashes that happen every year...

if sombody goes to an alf game wearing nrl colours screaming go storm, he would be classed as a ****er, would he not?

yet if sombody drives a car around town that shouldn't be there in the first place, he/she is not a ****er...

*if you use your 4WD for off roading i have no problem with that, they just dont belong in town.. IMO

What???
A Nissan Patrol, probably the largest 4wd on our streets, is shorter than a Holden Commodore station wagon by 2cm.
But its wider by 8.
A Land Cruiser is shorter by 13.
But still, you gotta love parrots like kiwikid who repeats what he hears, no matter how wrong it is.

You seem to have highlighted my point in the 1st half of your post, if owners choose to drive a 4WD in a non-responsible manner in city streets the shouldnt be driving one..wrong choice of vehicle and driving style. People have to realise that the vehicle they are driving is bigger, heavier and usually is longer with a higher centre of gravity. If they realise this, there wont be any problems

Some people who buy 4WD's for four wheel driving work in the city, and most of these people ARE good drivers. What about the truck drivers in the city doing deliveries etc?

In my experience there are far more nuisance car drivers than 4WD's anyway!

So phase 3 GTHOS should have been banned because they were designed to be driven on the racetrack?

not to mention all the people that drive a 4WD out there dont actuly know "how big" there "4WD" is, and things like the first post by XR-ENVI happen and much worse..
Never scraped a wheel on a gutter or backed into something accidently?

also its the driver that chooses to park there 4wd on or very close to an intersection and cause crashes simply coz other road users cant see through them.
Regardless of the illegality of where the vehicle is parked it is the driver's responsibility to drive in a safe manner, that does not make it the 4 wheel drive owner's responsibility for the crash.

then there are all the 4wd related crashes that happen every year...
Show me the statistics please

if sombody goes to an alf game wearing nrl colours screaming go storm, he would be classed as a ****er, would he not?
yet if sombody drives a car around town that shouldn't be there in the first place, he/she is not a ****er...
What give YOU the right to dictate what vehicles should be in the cities?
How would you feel if I was to call you a ****er for owning an environmentally irresponsible emissions generating vehicle because I happen to believe that all cars in cities should be running on alcohol or batteries ?

*if you use your 4WD for off roading i have no problem with that, they just dont belong in town.. IMO

I'll drive my Landrover where I want to, within the law, thank you very much. The last time I looked we lived in a democracy where extreme viewpoints are not considered the norm. There are good and bad drivers everywhere and in all types of vehicles. Your arguments are as facile as making statements like "all ricers are ****ers" "all aggies are ****ers" "all Ford drivers are ****ers" etc. Calm down, have a look around you and consider the other bloke's point of view.
Regards,
Tote

so im a parrot and i only repeat what i have heard do i, join a emergency service and you will actuly see how many accidents happen due to 4WD's and wouldn't have happend if it was a sedan,

how high is a 4WD, how high is its center of gravity, how much body roll is there when going around corners etc.., more than an average car? yes.

as i said im not addressing people that can drive and actuly use there 4WD's, im addressing all the soccer mum's and people that buy a 4WD just to have bragging rights to the best toorak tractor....

this is my opinoin i think what i think, you think what you think,

4wd are high and hard to see around thats the only annoying thing oh and slow off the mark. You can say the same thing for trade utes i don't know how many things iv seen fall off them, the old fairlane is busted up cause one droped a large metal rod and then fanged it away. We will never get rid of 4wd's they are here to stay just gotta live with it. Soon we will probably see bigger and bigger lift kits of 4wd so they can see over the top of the other 4wds.

Hope ya get your car fixed ok!

Thats no good mate.. I sorta had the same thing happen to me, Two days into having my brand new XR6T i parked it at the shopping center to find when i came out someone has knicked the back of the rear spoiler on my ute.

Cost me $175 to fix, wasnt to happy either... was a very tiny scratch as well.

well at least a few people have stuckt o the subject matter and no-one bit at the woman driver comment *damn*
i dont have a pic at moment, it doesnt look bad just really really annoying

oh and by the way
4WD should be used for their purpose whether it be towing or off road but i guess some people want it for the size they "feel" safer and stuff (not that I am saying they are). My brother bought a brand new patrol and next day took it off road (and got a shit load of scratches), but he still drives it round town too but its also his business car. i guess its an argument no-one will win.
BUT anyway nooone really notices the scratch on the car, it just means no shows till i fix it which will be in a couple of weeks

It’s still enough to make you see red. I’m not sure how I would compose myself if I were in the same situation as you. An old copper mate of mine said to me many years ago to focus on the cars number plate (if the conditions allow) and worry about the damage after you’ve got their plate. It least the p**** that did this would have to cough up to have it fixed.

Cheers, Danny

That’s a real bummer that. I had f** pr*** on a Harley clip my mirror while I was stopped in traffic once. I couldn’t see his plate as the van in front of me partially blocked my view and he was off. I hope you can get it fixed quickly as it will only upset you looking at the scratch.

Cheers, Danny
