I just bought the calvert front & rear shocks plus the mono split leafs. Have not had a chance to fit them yet Russ so I can't give any practicle feed back but come September
The feed back I have received has been all good even for street use. But I will have a different set of shocks for the front when I'm not racing as I think the 90/10 may be a tad of a compromise for street cruising. |

Well, if they can do the job of a multi leaf setup without having the extra weight associated then I'm all for it.
If they can't then that's a different story. |

I ran a set on my old ZC, in combination with a set of Caltracs. No problems with them on either the street or strip. I'm not sure how well they'd work without the bars at the strip. Suspect they'd suffer a bit of wrap on launch without the bars.

In theory less upsprung weight should assist in better handling.

just a plain jane, low $ setup under the Capri. 15 year old leaf springs, Strange Shocks ($600) and a custom Caltrac setup. consistent 60's pass after pass, even with the old 15 year old Pedders shocks it ran a 1.30 60's, new Strange run 1.2's on slicks or radials. when it was a 10-sec NA ran a 90/10 front, has 60/40's now. drives so smooth on the street.

What about adjustable konis on the front? The 90/10 shocks wouldn't be much good for cornering would they?

we have a HG in town where i live, he ran a 8.1 something last week at Willowbank, he has leaf springs, he is also a suspension guy guru in setting up rear ends, he has done Stu Henrys Capri, but he runs altra dear shocks in rear, but low 7’s. His HG is relevant due to its weight compared to a XR. He has a take on the Calvert System, one of the mags has a feature on him, its in the Performance Garage mag. I keep up to date by reading what they are doing overseas, especially leaf springers running in X275 class, this is the closest class to what most larger cars can run with drag radials etc and run the tyre. Also have a look at what the Trick Manswetto falcon was running, i know his setup is in a Street machine Ford’s issue. He has bigger perches with lowering block built in, every thing is bigger, but runs a full pack of leaf springs, i like the look of the mono leaf, as you can change the set up easily. Designed to use the Calvert adjustable shocks.
