(Geek hat on) The star destroyer can project power with its complement of TIE Fighters, Interceptors, Bombers and Defenders. Ion cannon bursts would be enough to disable the Enterprise's shields.

They could just pop a phaser charged cap in the *** of the guy who designs the Star Destroyer ;) |
