Default Quality Service

So for those in the know of RC stuff and those who are not let me explain.

Today I go to my local Hobby place, we get chatting (30mins) about RC cars. I was looking for a battery and charger to begin with, but was also looking at purchasing a Traxxas Stampede. Anyway he tried to sell me a $180 swallow 2 charger and I was like nooooooo. After some more talk we came to an agreement that if I bought the Stampede and 3600 mah Venom Battery today (car was $449, Battery $49) he would give me the swallow charger and all the appropriate leads for nothing. I was blown away as I was going in there with the intention of possibly walking out with the battery and traxxas for those prices anyway.

I considered it to be excellent service. I walked out with $200 of gear for 0.

Sounds like a good deal ED!
The swallow 2 charger is a good solid charger which should be trouble free!

where abouts was this?

i had a drama trying to buy servo horns a few months ago. some people trying to sell me random horns, others wanting to know the brand of servo, others wanting the servo to look at themselves, i ended up buying a new servo with horns which didn't even turn the wheels on the rc (1/8 truggy).

They need to know what servo it is going to be used on because the splines are different for most of the servo manufacturers!
I wish they made the same size spline for all brands, but i guess that would be too easy! :

Should put this in the advice section but I believe my battery is ****ed. If anyone can help. I put it on (3600mah Venom) at 3.0 which was recommended charge rate. I accidentally pushed the enter button 4mins into the charge. This resulted in the charge stopping. I then restarted charge and went out. Came back 1hr later and the charger was flashing end and the battery felt like fire (I disconnected straight away) I assume but am wondering, did that first stoppage stuff the battery? If so there goes $49.

Batteries get hot when charging - if it's getting REALLY hot then maybe try charging at a lower rate.

Another thumbs up for the swallow charger here too!

Well I am assuming now that maybe it was fully charged. A bit suss for only 60mins but anyway I have used it for 15mins and it still has not lost any performance.

They get fairly warm when they peak, so if it works well, it should be allright!
Best thing to do when you can afford it would be to get yourself some lopo batteries.
They are half the weight of the 6 cell packs and if you dont use them for a fair while, they hold their charge and dont go flat and stuff up like the old style packs.
If you want to go the way of the lipo packs in the future, let me know and i can hook you up with an importer who will beat the shop price by a fair way! :voldar02: :Reverend:

Cool will keep that in mind. I was thinking Lipo for when I upgrade to a brushless motor. Oh and the battery lasted 30mins and still was going.

that would be too easy.

the main problem was that i live on the central coast but was trying to buy the parts in sydney (i work in sydney). i went to one shop and they said they needed to know the brand, so i went home and found the brand. i went back to that shop the next day and they said they would actually need to see the servo. but i don't think they were too organised there anyway as i was also chasing glow plugs and they just had a box full of random plugs, and they couldn't give me 2 the same :
