And thanks to the mugs like me...who dont get it! We have been working just as hard as you guys...but some of you get more tax dollars than us.
Dont get me wrong..good on you guys for getting it...Just know that you will be paying for it in major tax hikes in the future...And then dont blame us for whinging about it when the time comes!! The money for recovery of this mass payout has to come from somewhere and be stuffed if I will be paying the majority of it!!

Dont hate me just cause I earn alot of money...I sacrificed alot to get to where I am!! I have fought against the whole "women dont belong here" bs!!...and I have fought sickness and the right to just be considered as my male counter point would be! I resent the fact that this topic has turned. Do I agree with the payout? Yes in some ways I do. Do I think it is right from a financial stand point? No I dont! That is all I have to say on this matter.

i'm kinda used to paying tax, while others get benifits . hate to be a stick in the mud , but i feel worse off than people who earn less . i know some who get donations from family members atc , because of hardship, including holidays etc , while i have to forgo somethings to pay tax bills . the system is wrong .
anyhow . i've never gotten anything before , wont get anything this time. and if i had a say in it . nobody would get it . it's not right to get free cash. theres no such thing . the penalty will come in the form of national deficit, where you me and our children will pay it back triple fold. possibly in higher GST % . I SMELL A huuuuge ferrell ratt. |

The way I look at it we were all going to be paying more out of our pockets and more taxes in the future anyway because of the economic slow down.
If a lot of small business was to shut down due to noone having any money to spend there would be more people eventually on the dole. Where does the money for that come from? If the country doesnt have the cash to pay for the stimulus package we sure as hell would not have the money to continue paying out Centrelink. There is a lot more money spent when someone is on the dole then just the payments. There is a healthcare concession card so they get their perscriptions cheaper. There is a public transport concession. There is rent assistance. Running costs of job placement agencies. Running costs of centrelink would increase with an increase in recipients. Who picks up the tab for all of this? The government which hands it on to the tax payer in the form of increased taxes and levies. Plus if businesses were to shut due to people not spending it would have a huge effect on competition in the market place , thus driving direct prices higher in the end. Remember when Bunnings first come on the scene? They were so cheap for stuff everyone started going there and the service was great. After some time when they drove the smaller hardwares out of business and killed the competition what happened to their prices? They went up and the service dropped to somewhat less then poor! Same thing with the likes of supercheap auto. The package is really needed to stop the country slowly being absorbed by the huge conglomorates that can afford to cop the loss seeing that in future they will be the only ones left standing. Everything has a ripple effect. If a few handout packages is enough to see the country struggle on and us get over these hard times well so be it. Yes we will be paying it back in the future in higher taxes etc but ultimately we always would have had to pay back more money being handed out. Plus then copping the pinch at a shop floor sales level. Different means to the same end I say with the possibility of it being able to be classed as the lesser of two evils. Are all the economic genius's here that are complaining about it not seeing the big picture? Or were they secretly hoping that people would loose their homes , businesses etc so real estate in both houses and retail properties was flooded with mortgagee sales so they could buy them up at fire sale prices while interest rates are low and they can come back here in 10 years time when the financial disaster of 2009 is just about forgotten and gloat how successful they are with their real estate portfolio? Yes I work about 60 odd hours a week and am getting nowhere near a $900 payout because of what I earnt last year. I have basically lost 30k in my pay this year due to overtime being cut because of the economic cruch but Im not bitter and twisted about the future of paying it back. I know one way or another when times are good and the dollars start flowing again I would always be paying more taxes. Its just one of those things. Im going to get torched for my thoughts but hey its just the way I look at it. |

The stimulus package is designed to stimulate the economy so it goes to the people that are most likely to blow it straight away. If some people earning over the cutoff that are complaining that they deserve it as much or more than the next guy then they should be happy that they earn so much considering their lack of intelligence on the subject. Its not about who deserves $900, its about who is most likely to put it back into the system straight away.
If you have an issue with the idea behind the stimulus package in general (as i do) or paying it back with higher tax or anything else about it then why not start your own thread about it and leave this one to the people that HAVE received it as the title suggests? |

This thread is about who has their cabbage payment, not who and who doesnt deserve it and who earns the most money. End of story, any more of that rubbish warnings and bans will be issued. Simple!
